Conservative Rock Groups?

Posted on 03/17/2002 11:56:23 AM PST by Lebowski

I was wondering if anybody can name some conservative rockers. It seams most people in the Music Industry are Left-Leaning, especially the hard stuff. I think you could say the same for most entertainment personalities, including movie stars and directors. So if any of my fellow conservatives could point me in the way of some good conservative rock groups it would be appreciated.

I am watching the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame and during their acceptance speech one of the Ramones said "God Bless america and God Bless President Bush". there actually was muted applause.

Also, I recall an interview with Lindsey Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac where he remarked that bassies John McVie was "very Republican" and had to be dragged to play for the rapist-in-chief.

John Lydon could probably be considered a moderate conservative, just not a Torie (thank God) which is why he now lives in the USA

--------------------------

Ugh, Tories! They're the kind of folks who give conservatism a bad name. Granted, Winston Churchill was a stand-up guy, but he's about the only exception.

And I don't know about you, but I don't particularly care for the neo-conservatives either: David Horowitz, William Kristol, Charles Krauthammer, Jonah Goldberg, and their ilk. I just really dislike these people a lot.

Krauthammer is a Likudnik, Kristol is a Tory (as is George Will), while Goldberg/Horowitz are right on many things, wrong on others. Horowitz at least allows some truly politically incorrect stuff on his website. National Review has been boring under Goldberg/Lowry.

I would ask you to provide me evidence of it otherwise because I have the proof to back up what I have said

What's this? you draw first? I heard Sammy hagar was a conservative too, I'd like to see what you've got. I just saw him on a list of republican supporters here;

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/1311976/posts

but there was really not much backround to go with it.

James Hetfield from Metallica is conservative in a libertarian sort of way. The late, 'DimeBag Darrell Abbott' was conservative too, and a Bush fan.

PS: I used to play in a Hard Core band and we were all conservative. Most other musicians I've met in other bands were conservatives. Every now and then you would run into a Liberal nut job in the clubs, but it was a rare occurrence.

I know this is an old thread, just throwing my 2 cents in ;-).

It was very surprising news to see that Sammy donated to Bush in 2002.The info wasn't around at that time of this posting because I don't think he even had donated yet. However,I have seen Sammy live many times alone and with Van Halen and it is always about anti-death penalty,anti-war,stop rushing to war for oil etc. During Right Now on the latest Van Halen tour they did a slap at Bush on screen.

"I own 2 of their CD's.. (OK, well, one skips now)"

I found that putting a penny on the laser arm will fix that.

What about "The Good Rats" out of NYC?

Listened to them back in the late seventies. They are more crazed goofballs than anything else.

Why do you say they are not Christian? Your links (to the same page) don't address the question.

The late Johnny Ramone said "God Bless the USA & George W. Bush" when the Ramones were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Well, considering that my response was almost three years ago, and their FAQ was updated about three months after I wrote my response, I'd have to say that the answer was there, but they've moved it.

The song "That Smell" is also an anti drug song.
