I can tell you that Queensryche's EMPIRE tells another story. There is a family element to the band and some religious overtones but they tended to rip on the Bush administration in the late 80s and early 90s. I am a fan of theirs but barely since they have decided to release one pile of crap after another the last 3 releases.

I have to agree, they pretty much stopped rockin' after the live album, but they do have some early releases that reflect what we are talking about.

They also took potshots at the Reagan administration on Operation Mindcrime. I felt some of the criticism of Reagan and Bush was legitimate, if not all of it.
