"I agree, but don't assume Saddam won't take the war home to us this time. He already has done, and there's a great big smoking hole in Lower Manhattan that's testimony to that."I have no illusions about Saddam. Or what he's capable of. The government will most likely be issuing Threatcons soon, before the attack.
Now, we need to think of who can replace Saddam.

It's time to take over Iraq. I hope we do it soon and do it as quickly as possible. I think that this will also wake up Saudi Arabia and make them get their act together.

Maybe the deal is Jordan gives up land for a Palestinian state and gets a piece of Iraq in return. Just a guess. You forgot the "soft tossing left hander and cash considerations" that would be needed to get the Palestinians to go along.

Everybody's got to be something.
I don't think Saddam has a nuke yet because his vanity wouldn't allow him to not let the world know with a public demonstration, aside from maybe one experimental nuke that hasn't been tested, and as far as bio/chem weapons Israel is the most prepared country on the planet for this.
Every Israeli has a mask waiting for them and many have made rooms in their homes into chem/bio safety rooms with tape and plastic at the ready to seal off windows and doors.

I'm not convinced Babylon is Iraq. Babylon was located in what is now Iraq.
This fact might only be a historical footnote, except that Saddam makes a big deal about it as part of his nationalist propaganda.

Bad place to be, on the bad side of the Israeli...they've got a nasty habit of killing people without a second thought. BTW, how publicly nuclear-capable is Israel?
Very. Israel is generally acknowledge to have the 6th largest nuclear arsenal. One more thing, Israel has at least 1 submarine capable of retaliating with nuclear weapons. There is no way Saddam gets to take out Israel without being taken out himself. Which brings us to the question, how long is Saddam's military going to stay under his control? It seems to me Saddam will be a goner before the real fighting begins.

Western intelligence sources confirmed earlier reports that Iraq had moved troops near the border with Jordan. The sources said the troops, backed by tanks and APC's were constructing fortifications in the western desert along the frontier with Jordan Doesn't this sound an awful lot like offensive preparations, not defensive ones?

Saddam thinks he's reincarnated Nebecannezer. If you examine an Iraqi dinar, you will see the profile of Nebucannezer II superimposed and to the left slightly of Nebucannezer I, and superimposed on top of him and slightly to the left, is yours truly, Saddam Hussein.
Moreover, there are plans underway to rebuild the Tower of Babel. Furthermore, he has had a Qu'ran printed with his blood used as the ink.

Last solid estimates ran over 400 deliverable nuclear munitions.[Janes Intel 1997]
Israel achieved breakthroughs in nuclear ordinance minaturizing in the early 80's.
This minaturization includes several forms of nuclear ordinance.
The London based "Sunday times" quoted an Israeli source as commenting that Israel has been perfecting "Neutron" ordinance for nearly 2 decades.
Minaturization has achieved the following:
Nuclear and neutronic artillery for 175mm and 210 tubes.
The MLRS'S [the American Built- multiple rocket launch vehicle seen during Desert Storm].
Cruise missiles..and possibly adapted to the Submarine force.
Air-drop..and Neutronic mines.
The Jerico missile program accompanied by "MIRV" technology.
Janes reports Israel as possessing a "Tactical" neutron weapon..can be carried by 2 soldiers.
At an est 100 grams..the yeild is 250 tons.
At this point it is unknown what Israels true "Nuclear Arsenal" size is...also unkown is the size of Israel's cruise missile arsenal allong with artillery munitions.
Currently..breakthroughs at "Whitesands" proving grounds have been achieved concerning the [THEL] program..Tactical High Energy Laser...the lazer is functional..and capable of hitting multiple targets...the format is being adapted to a mobile unit for feild application.
Analysts have been continually caught off guard by Israeli technology developments..forecasts concerning programs with outcomes viewed as decades..now fall inside 5-10yr windows.
