Norton farmer, Terry Ford of Gowrie Farm, who was in his mid-fifties, was bludgeoned to death sometime in the early hours of this morning, Monday 18th March 2002.

Just before midnight last night, a group of about twenty, suspected to consist of settlers and war veterans, approached the homestead area.  Mr Ford, who was alone in the house, immediately made a report to the Norton police station and alerted a neighbouring farmer.  At 02:15hrs this morning, Mr Ford contacted the neighbour to say that there still had been no police response and that he would remain vigilant and call for assistance if necessary.  Mr Ford's battered body was found in the early hours of this morning.

This farm is in vicinity of Winsor Farm, where looting took place last week and the farmer and his family were forced to vacate.  Also in the same area, the homestead at Wilbered Farm, owned by an 81 year old cancer victim who is away receiving medical treatment, was completely looted of all belongings. These incidents have been reported to the police at all levels.  Of the group of approximately 70 looters involved in these incidents, 3 have been arrested.

The Norton district is controlled by War Veteran leader, Mrs Rusike.  The war veteran base commander on Gowrie Farm is Cde Wamba.  Both are known to have been involved in the previous two looting incidents.

If the whites have to leave they should burn their homes and farms and take whatever they've worked for that they can. It's all going to end up being nothing anyhow, but these looters shouldn't be rewarded.

The remaining farmers should just walk down to the local bank, take out a HUGE equity loan against the value of the farm, get on a plane to where ever, and leave Mugabe with a worthless farm with a huge unpaid loan against it.

Would you lend money against a farm slated for expropriation without compensation.

In fact, that will be one of the factors contributing to famine. The farmers will not even be able to borrow to buy seed stock and fertilizer.

Good reposte ! Lincoln was a tyrant doesn't know that this is not about race - opposition to Mugabe is composed of all colors. This is also not about I.Q.: there are plenty of blacks there who could whip his intellect up one side and down the other. It is about integrity and values and the extent that some people will go to in order to retain power. That flaw is color blind as history does attest.

The key question is "have they been disarmed yet"? If so, there is no hope for them. "Call for assistance" is increasingly becoming "call for Mr.AR, or Mr.AK, or Mr.Colt". Anything else seems to be a waste of time and effort.

Whites are a tiny portion of the Zim population. Farmers are a yet tinier portion. Effectives are a still tinier portion.

If farmers were to start shooting the whole of Africa would be after their hides.

Not quite that simple, but I know what you mean. One of the strategies that South Africans have used to escape South Africa during the last 10 years include taking out a loan to buy equipement in the US, but instead of having the equipment delivered, sneaking out of the country and taking possession of it in the US.

They, just like the Whites of Zimbabwe, are not allowed to take anything of value out of the country.

It may surprise you but the US has similar laws. Just try leaving the country with a large amount of money. It will be confiscated, and you will end up in jail. So much for the land of the free huh?

This is wrong on so many levels it's hard to know where to begin. First of all Zimbabwe is their country just as much as the country where you live is your country. They have lived there for generations. All they know and love is in that country. Just because you don't understand why they would want to live there dosn't mean their reasons are not valid.

Finally even if they did want to leave, how anxious would you be to start over in a new country with nothing but the clothes on your back. This is assuming that they could find a country that would grant them asylum? I expect that any that wanted to, and could, have already left.

Those that remain may have very few options indeed, and for you to call them morons shows a stunning lack of compassion and understanding. You should be ashamed.

Of course, you are correct, in supposing that nothing will be done about this. They haven't EVER before; why start now ? The same thing is happening in South Africa, and is even less reported upon ; let alone punished.

Please do explain just where and how they should go. Their money is almost worthless, and you need a visa to get into all countries. The USA won't give them one, and neither will most other counries. If they cross the border, into South Africa, as illegals, they WILL be hunted down, caught, and returned.

White South Africans TODAY live behind high wals topped with razor wire and broken glass, and elaborate securities alarm systems on everything. Taxis have James Bondian devices, and fire throwing thingies on their wheels, for some minor protection. Many well educated whites and blacks have already left South Africa, and millions more, would like to / are trying to ; however , that is VERY difficult to do.

Global companies have left, and I doubt that many will continue to stay.
