What did CNN do this morning?
Fox News

Posted on 03/29/2002 5:26:21 AM PST by jdub

This morning, I heard the team on Fox and Friends slamming CNN for a story they did. I didn't catch enough of it, but they mentioned that CNN may have given out confidential information and that the story was basically anti-American. Brian said no way would they have done the story, that they "have a dog in this fight" and that the story was an example of CNN's bias. Did anyone catch the whole thing, or see the story they were referring to on CNN? I tuned in to CNN for a while, but nothing on their ticker looked inflammatory.

XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX THU MARCH 28, 2002 14:26:09 ET XXXXX

WHITE HOUSE ANGER AT CNN 'MILITARY NOT READY' REPORT

Senior White House officials are furious over a CNN report which claimed the U.S. military is 'unprepared' to launch a new offensive in the war on terrorism -- possibly against Iraq -- because American troops need a rest!

White House officials watched in disbelief Thursday morning as CNN beamed a report worldwide that stated: "The U.S. military needs more time to retool its ships, aircraft and weapons, restock munitions and to rest its troops."

One Bush official erupted over the story [filed by the network's Jamie McIntyre and slugged 'U.S. Military Not Ready']: "Could they help our enemies any more if they tried! Gee, CNN tells the world: 'Now's the time to attack America! That's what they've just done! We're resting??"

MORE

Introducing the report, CNN anchor Carol Costello announced: "The U.S. military is not quite ready for another major war."

McIntyre reported: "While the U.S. has plenty of the latest satellite-guided bombs, it is short of other high-tech assets, such as unmanned spy planes, which commanders now see as indispensable in providing real-time reports from the battlefield."

A Bush official spoke to the DRUDGE REPORT on condition their identity not be revealed.

"This is one of the most unconscionable stories I've ever seen in my years in public life... How could CNN just tell the world how our troops now need a rest... The impression that has been left is: 'We are in retreat!'"

The all-news channel has not yet received any official complaints from the White House, a CNN spokesman said Thursday afternoon.

The libstream media just plain sucks. My local station reported as breaking news at 9:00 AM that a man had some bottle shaped explosive devices outside of his house. They said some of these went off. At 9:30 on the half hour news report (same station), they made no mention of this important news item. BTW, no matter what the reason, it's all terrorism now.

Hell, it's probably true. The price of eight years of loathing the miltary, but working them like draft horses, while starving them for war stocks of beans, blankets and bullets.

It maybe true but is CNN or the other big three putting American lives at risk by announcong this info to the world. I saw some other report about weaknesses terrorists could exploit and I thought great if the terrorists didn't know this before now they do. It wasn't a weakness that could be fixed overnight either. The networks put ratings before country.

CNN is avidly providing non-stop platforms almost hourly for the propagandists of our enemies to spew their lies and misinformation unchallenged to the gullible among the American public. Paula Zahn's interview with the Herr Goebbels of Palistine this morning is an example.

Yes, I do watch CNN war news along with other networks. I don't have my head in the sand. It's just as important to know what our enemies in Atlanta are doing as what our enemies abroad are doing.

Deliberate misinformation, perhaps? I would hate to think that CNN would do something like that maliciously.

While I realize they have no great love for Bush, and are striving to portray themselves as a WORLD wide news organization, not an American one, surely they know which way the wind is blowing these days.

In the effort to become 'the worlds network' they have decided to compromise Americas interests anywhere they can.

Check out this story from my local newspaper, on Sunday:

Suspicious package leads to evacuation of part of Vanderbilt Beach

Monday, March 25, 2002
Daily News staff

The North Naples Fire Department evacuated a small area of Vanderbilt Beach on Sunday afternoon as authorities investigated a suspicious item found on the beach.

A beachgoer called authorities around noon after spotting a small white object, a little smaller than a bar of soap, on the beach, said Vaughn Palmateer of the fire department.

Authorities evacuated the area around the beach end turnaround from noon to 2 p.m., he said.

A bomb squad with the state Fire Marshal's Office in Fort Myers retrieved the item and took it back Fort Myers to be blown up to identify what the item was, he said.

There were no problems with beachgoers during the evacuation.

"There were a lot of people around," Palmateer said.

No information was available late Sunday on what the item turned out to be, fire authorities said.

Isn't this a little bit rediculous?? Something smaller than a bar of soap!? I guess it's "our tax dollars at work."

I wish people would quit referring to these "news" networks as "mainstream". If they are so "mainstream" why are they getting hosed in the ratings???? Hummm?

I'm not sure how sanctimonious FOX should be toward other news stations since they have become the "Help Rosie promote homosexuality network."

Dont forget Al Gore giving that $50,000 check to the gay community during election time!

I hope Americans are grown up enough to hear the truth ..we have had 8 years of lies!

Yep, I thought the same thing last night, after a report about how nuclear power plants could not withstand an attack by a jet plane. I thought, great, now everybody knows.
