Course On African-American Men Offered At Temple

For the first time, Temple University is offering a special course that examines the Black man in America.

Instructor Ed Coleman says his course, The Black Man, is designed to look beyond all of the grim statistics and media stereotypes and get students to critically examine the roots and characteristics of the modern African American man.

According to Coleman, the black man's baggage has its roots in slavery, when the role of manhood was subverted from provider to survivor and sexual tool. "Where African American men or African men had been forced to be breeders and studs and that became the prevalent notion of what it meant to be a man where the emphasis was placed on the individual rather than the family or the community."

The class, which is in Temple's African American studies department, covers education, spirituality, health and criminal justice issues and relationships.

There is no way that you can deny that the poster was right.

Wait a minute. Isn't this what Jimmy the Greek said? He said it helped to explain the apparent superiority of black athletes--because the slave owners selected the strongest slaves to be breeders.

But Jimmy was fired for saying this. I wonder if Coleman will be fired?

Personally, I believe that our society has gone completely mad. Where do we place the blame? Well, we have done a lot of talking about those things before.

The sort of behavior is permoted in the schools and all the media now. Just sit down a watch a few programs aimed at teen and pre-teen girls. (I have a 14year old daughter and an 11 year old daughter so I get to watch them all the time.)

Back in the Civil Rights era the rallying cry was "I am a Man." A man, not a freak, not a half witted child and not something to be studied like an exotic animal. I guess the folks at Temple have forgotten this.

It is really hard to convince teenage girls that this type of behavior is self destructive, we they see Carman Electra going out with Dennis Rodman on the covers of teen magazines. Then they see a Madonna vidio with black guys all around. Then they go to school and learn that the only people who accomplished anything throughout history were black. <

Not a crime, just a behavior I would like to discourage in my own children. I would like my grandchildren to look something like me. If that makes me a racist then so be it.

Our wonderfully boring universities discuss categories of people as a rancher would discuss categories of cattle. And they call that uplifting.

I wonder what a realistic course along these lines would include. Malt liquor? Violent crime? Bad music? Abysmal English? Walking like a chicken?

First of all CC..let's characterize this as sexual promiscuity at a young age...not divide it by the races...and yes, I understand completely, as I have a 15 y/o daughter..and no matter how hard you try to shield them from the crap that they shouldn't be exposed to, it is IMPOSSIBLE. It has permeated the schools, TV, Radio, and magazines...Grown men oggling them is taken as the highest complement..I have actually gotten in the faces of some of these men at malls when they start drooling like that. And have also jacked up a few young punks when they look at my daughter and stick their tongue out at her in a suggestive manner or grab their crotch. I don't care that I am 4'11", I'll go up against the biggest and meanest of them. But through it all of course,,,she is embarassed at MY behavior...

You'd think the Feminazis at NOW would be more concerned about Societies Sluttification of young girls than their Lesbian issues.
