ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, April 5 (UPI) -- Investigators said Friday they have found some code words in an al Qaida hideout that could tell them more about terror suspect Osama bin Laden's whereabouts.

Senior Pakistani security officials told United Press International the codes were found in a building in Faisalabad. Last week, a joint FBI and local police team arrested one of bin Laden's key aides, Abu Zubaydah, and 18 other al Qaida suspects from the same building.

Friday: Dawood and Abu Kamel

Well, I’m no cryptographer, but this appears to be some sort of menu. Perhaps who was assigned cooking duties that day too?

"We found apparently incoherent sentences like, Friday: Dawood and Abu Kamel; Saturday: Osama and Anees, written on a wall inside a building in Faisalabad's Faisal Town area,"

Lets guess....Days for changing their underware? Who washes who's back? Who does the dishes and shopping?

Wonderful.... announce to the world (including Al-Qaeda) that you've gotten some of their code words (and list them) so they can change them. Stupid.

Beat me to it. Unless this is disinformation, this really should not be reported.

Why write it down?

Just tell Abu to get his butt over to the Kitchen.

Friday: Dawood and Abu Kamel; Saturday: Osama and Anees

The two key words are "kamel" and "anees" and the rotation for who gets the daily treat.

It could indicate death notices. Bin Ladin, who was rarely quiet a day after leaving Sudan in May 1996 (he was constantly on the phone, used faxes, and sent out broadsides attacking the US and Saudi Arabia) has not been heard from in more than four months. He is, most intelligence analysts assume, a greasespot in some cave somewhere in Afghanistan.

I don't know. The same elite media who has had members (in interviews) question if they'd alert US soldiers heading into an ambush in order to 'cover the story'. If they'd even consider watching US soldiers get killed so they could 'boost ratings' for their own career resume, why wouldn't they do this sort of thing?

Oh, and we're supposed to feel sorry for them if they get shot in a war zone.

But it could disrupt their ability to communicate for a critical period of time. They have their people scattered all over, most of them not very bright bulbs to begin with, afraid that their messages will be easily translated. That might even be better than having the codes and not letting them know about it.

I realize this was probably meant for zandtar and Praetorian, but I was mulling over the likelihood of there even being the word “Dagwood” in Pashtun. I can’t imagine that they’re chuckling over the latest hijinks of Blondie or Mr. Dithers, or making gigantic sandwiches. So, I think these are just some random words to illustrate the complexity of what they’ve found.

That's nice. Now Al Qaida will simply start using a new code and any intelligence value from the one found will be lost ...
