Military authorities in Sudan have issued a nationwide appeal for volunteers to report to specially set up camps and train to fight alongside Palestinians against Israel.

The Popular Defence Forces (PDF) called for "all parties, institutions, trade unions, students and youths, men and women" to join the camps in a statement broadcast on state television and radio.

The PDF announced the opening of the training camps on Saturday, saying they had been set up following a directive from President Omar Hassan al-Bashir as a sign of solidarity with the Palestinian people.

It said the aim of the camps was to prepare the "mujahideen for the Palestinian cause and for freeing the Aqsa mosque from Zionist filth".

It is not clear how any fighters trained in Sudan would make their way to the battle zone.

Clerics' call

Muslim scholars in Sudan have also reportedly called for engagement with the Palestinian cause.

A decree carried in the Al-Sahafi Al-Dawli daily said Islamic armies "should not stand with their arms folded while Israel is killing the Palestinians".

They also called for Islamic rulers to boycott Israel and the USA both economically and politically.

They said they should challenge "American interests until the US reverses its hostile policy towards Muslims".

A fundraising campaign is also under way in Sudan, collecting money in mosques and other public places for the Palestinian cause.

What, if anything, does Sudan import from the USA? Or export to the USA? Or Israel?

If Bush would make it just a tad clearer that he doesn't approve of Palestinian suicide bombers, and that those who support them will pay the price, we wouldn't be hearing this about Sudan. Sudan backed down on supporting Al Qaeda. They don't want to be the next Afghanistan, although I can think of few countries that deserve it more.

Sudan calls for 'holy war' against Israel
Times of India, AFP, April 7

HARTOUM: Sudan's government-backed militia, the Popular Defence Forces (PDF), issued a nationwide appeal Sunday for volunteers to report to training camps and prepare for "holy war" against Israel.

"This is a call to all parties, institutions, trade unions, students and youths, men and women, to join the camps," the PDF command said in a statement broadcast on state television and radio as well as carried in newspapers.

"Allahu Akbar (God is the Greatest)," it said without specifying how or when the trained volunteers would travel to the Palestinian territories.

The PDF said it has opened training camps throughout Sudan to receive and prepare the "mujahedin for the Palestinian cause and for freeing the Aqsa mosque (in Jerusalem) from Zionist filth."

Sudanese Muslim scholars, meanwhile, decreed that Islamic armies "should not stand with their arms folded while Israel is killing the Palestinians," Al-Sahafi Al-Dawli daily reported on Sunday.

The daily quoted a statement by 44 Muslim scholars calling for the opening of borders to volunteers and for smuggling arms into Palestinian territories. Egypt and Jordan have repeated their commitment to their peace treaties with their neighbour Israel, but Shiite Muslim Hezbollah guerrillas have clashed across the Syrian-Lebanese border with Israel.

The scholars called upon Islamic rulers to declare political and economic boycott of Israel and the United States and to challenge "American interests until the US reverses its hostile policy towards Muslims."

Meanwhile, political parties and trade unions are planning to stage a demonstration here on Monday in solidarity with the Palestinian people. The state-owned Al Anbaa daily reported organizers proposed a 50-dinar (about two dollars) duty stamp be imposed on commercial transactions, with proceeds to be allocated to the intifada.

A fund-raising campaign is currently being launched in mosques and other public places for the purpose. The Workers Trade Unions Federation has so far donated 100 million dinars (about 400,000 dollars), according to Al-Anbaa daily.

The Arabs can't beat Israel militarily, but they've been having a lot of success with terrorism. Now they want to expand their numbers so they can go all-out with the terrorism. But I doubt most of those Jehadis would even make it across the border. What WILL happen is the IAF will blast their camps to smithereens.

My post on a different thread:

Apr 3 12:08 PM #2 of 16

I have thought for some time that at some point, Israel will be faced by a human wave of Muslim foot soldiers charged with the fatwa of killing Jews, commissioned to a peoples' war, and sent out just as the medieval Crusaders were. Remember the Children's Crusade ?

And who says we don't have a religious war?

(Posted earlier today by Clive, from the Toronto Sun by Lorrie Goldstein)

Sometimes, when folks get all hysterical about that great imperialistic power, Israel, one wishes they would look at a map or do some addition or read a little history.

Recently, the 22-member Arab League offered Israel a laughable peace deal which can basically be summed up as this: give us back all the land you won from us in the four major wars in which we tried and failed to drive you into the sea and we'll recognize your right to exist.

That this should be hailed as a breakthrough is simply absurd given that five of the League's members - Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq and Jordan - have been participants in at least one and, in some cases, all four wars against Israel, the first starting the day after it became a nation on May 14, 1948.

The so-called "Occupied Territories" resulted from the third of the four conflicts, the Six Day War of 1967, in which Egyptian president Gamal Abdel Nasser demanded - and got - the UN to remove peacekeepers from the Gaza Strip and Sinai Peninsula, moved Egyptian forces into the Sinai, closed the Strait of Tiran to Israeli ships and blocked the Israeli port city of Elat, all the while publicly vowing to attack Israel.

Israel will be faced by a human wave of Muslim foot soldiers
That is a frightening scenario. That would neccesitate horrendous loss of human life. Theirs.
