Aim High...Join United States Marines.

Did y'all ever consider going after the Air Force for copyright infringement or plagiarism?

The Marine Song:

"You can have your army khakis
And your navy blues

But here's a different fighting man I'll introduce to you.
His uniform is unlike any you've ever seen;
The Germans call him Devil Dog!
His title is Marine!

He was trained at Parris Island, the land that God forgot.
The sand was 14 inches deep.
The sun was blazing hot.

In through the door he'll walk, his eyes as cold as steel
He'll say, "I am am your DI, and I am for real.
I'll make your life as miserable, as miserable as I can;
So when you leave this island,
you'll be a fighting man!

You'll be a rifle expert, you'll know your weapon well.
So when you encounter the enemy, you'll send his soul to hell!

And when I go to Heaven
Saint Peter, I will tell,
Another Marine reporting Sir! I've served my time in Hell!

I guess I just don't "get it," but then I'm not a Marine. I'll call you guys whatever it is you want to be called. :-) Thanks for serving our country.

What you do get, is exactly what I get, but many people don't . That is the real purpose of the military, regardless of branch - to defend America and kill the enemy as quickly as possible and then go home and get back to your life. No branch of the military was ever intended to be a high-school to retirement lifestyle choice, as too many people turn it into. The military exists to defend our way of life - not to be one.

Nonhacker Rather was discharged as medically unfit on 11 May 1954 and did not graduate from recruit training.

Ten years later, May 11 1964, my young butt was being put thru the ringer in a most deliberate & serious manner at Parris Island. My timing, as usual, impeccable ... August 1964, Gulf of Tonkin incident, March 1965 first contingent of Marines wade ashore at Da Nang.

I think I first heard the Marine Song at ITS, Camp San Onofre in 1974.

In boot, early 73, PI, the first 20 mins after lights out was my DI's "Hypnotic suggestion time" !! :-) ROFL He would set up his record player at the front of the squad bay and play all kinds of patriotic stuff until one morning in the midst of tossing garbage cans and tippin racks over and doin' a lot of screamin' and yellin and carrying on, he busted his record player. We were doin' "Bends & Thrusts" for 5 hours to calm him down!! hehhehehehehhe

I always thought it was Mureen.

I thought it was Jyreen. Interservice rivalry has it place down at the slop chute but to outsiders it's The United States Marine Corps.

to outsiders it's The United States Marine Corps.

And to Americans it's "Our Employees", a fact of which I am particularly reminded this time of year when I write out your paycheck and post it to the Infernal Revenue Service. I might add that y'all are doing a damn fine job; keep up the good work. At least I get my money's worth out of the military (most of the time), unlike most of the rest of the fedgov.

OOH-RAH Marine Corps!
Ready to fight!
Ready to Kill!
Ready to Die!
But never will!

Sgt. Jason Gade, USMC
Camp Pendleton, CA

Yeah, I was a rear echelon pogue my whole time. But I was a MARINE rear echelon pogue!

Currently I'm with an Oregon Army National Guard infantry headquarters. I think I'll get more of a workout than I did as a REMF in the USMC.

It's funny -- I left the Marines because I didn't want to get deployed and leave my family. Seven years older, I still have my family but being deployed doesn't bother me as much... although enough not to want to give up my nice civvie job and go active again.

But with the drawdown of active duty forces, the reserves and NG are going on more and more deployments. They've already sent troops from my brigade to the Sinai to free up active duty personnel there. I'm likely to get an all-expense-paid vacation there or somewhere else myself in the next couple of years.

So, I'm a soldier AND a Marine!

I meant to say, USMC July 1988 to September 1994. Desert Shield/Desert Storm August 1990 to April 1991

Lotta brave Americans from that unit died there. The USMC has had it's share of crummy officers making crummy decisions as well. I'd be damn careful trashing a brother service.
