I believe that an attack in Iraq or Iran is imminent. Within the next few weeks. This Isreali mess is a diversion. A part of a grand distraction for the world and the US press as we redeploy our forces to attack the grand puppet master: Saddam Husein. I would not be surprised if a coincidiing attack was in store for Iran. They might also be the primary target. Isreal has had terrorist of equal level in the past few years, but they have only recently retaliated with such force. Offensive mititary action (which I believe Sharon is executing) takes weeks if not months to plan and execute. You would think that all this Isreali action happenin the last 2 weeks. But Sharon began his operation several months ago
I believe that this is part of a coordinated action by Bush and Sharon to provide cover for the war that is to come. Do not be surprised, that after Powell comes home that Bush addresses the nation telling us A) what he learned from Sharon in his raids on Hamas and B) that the operation is underway.
Our current action against Al-Qiada in Afghanistan is over.
We now know who the puppet masters are.
Do you know where your children are?
Does the press core know where our troops are?
Do you know?
God bless the USA and GWB!
If you are right, this may have been negotiated by Sharon with Washington; i.e., Israel is given a chance to destabalize the West Bank terrorist organizations before the shooting begins so that Israel is safer. </tin foil & blind speculation>
This is correct, but the attack on Saddam will not take place until we have civil defenses in place to minimize the impact of his retaliation. That means, for example, smallpox vaccination for everybody, a plan to evacuate our cities in the final stages of the conflict, technological breakthroughs in anthrax decontamination, and the infrastructure to dispense medical treatment to millions of people anywhere in the US or its allies in the space of 24 hours. We have a ways to go, but the process is underway.
I doubt if we will see an attack on Iraq this year. Saddam will be gradually "isolated," just like his cat's paw Arafat is currently being isolated, before anything dramatic happens. Most of this war will be fought diplomatically and behind the scenes. Be patient.
Question??? Why didn't we capture Bagdad at the end of Desert Storm? We'd just killed 350,000 of Sadaam's elite Republican Guard--a waste that even Stormin' Norman regretted. I think that we did not have a post-Sadaam gameplan then. We still don't.
Then as now, a conquered Iraq would create a frightful power vacumn, with Iran, Syria, Turkey, and Russia moving to dismember it or at least to co-opt their respective slice of it.
Overthrowing governments, good or bad, is almost always going to make a bad situation worse. Let's see what Isreal does without Arafat, a true snake if I've ever seen one--but I can't even visualize a post-Arafat Palestine. What a dangerous cesspool it will become, and right at the doorstep of our only allies in the Middle East.
Getting rid of the Taliban was an exception simply because the nation of Afghanistan was a total shambles, not any kind of unified government anyway. Besides, their only significant ally was Pakistan, and we've bought off the Paks, at least for the time being--so we're not significantly destabilizing the situation--at least until the next coup in Karachi.
Striker : My orders came through. My squadron ships out tomorrow, we're bombing the storage depots at Daiquiri at 18:00 hours. We're coming in from the North, below their radar.
Elaine : When will you be back?
Striker : I can't tell you that? It's classified.
What planet are you on??? Have you seen the latest approval ratings for GWB? I saw a poll that over 70% of the American public favors attacking "the axis of evil" specifically Iraq! You and Pat Buchanan need to be sold but I think the rest of us are on board!
just about the same time bush's approval rating drops below 70.
