Fox,CNN and Big Media will Try to Duplicate OJ Success in Robert Blake matter.

Robert Blake is a third rate actor. He may or may not have killed his wife. Who Cares?

Isn't it shameless exploitation for Fox News, CNN and some of the other major media to give this non-story such significance. It is "shameless" to waste the public's attention and energy on such a crime of little importance. Here is the exception of a story where even the NY Times will probalby use better judgment than FOX news. Most likely Fox news and CNN will continue to try to build up this non-story into a big-several- month run of improved ratings. My questions are: Why shouldn't the leading media concentrate on what is important (or at least issues that may be important) rather than the Blake murder which is negative, irrelevant and of minimal significance? and Can't FOx News and CNN show some judgment and forget about this story that deserves to be forgotten?

I am a big fan of Fox News and this is my first strong criticism of its choice of content. I would like to hear what you think.

What gets me is that this will become the default story, until its over, forcing other news stories to go unreported.

I am not sure what causes that you support. But it serves my causes if CNN would cover Blake 24/7. CNN has become little more than a propaganda organ of the PLO and EU. The more time CNN spends on Blake the less camera time for Amanapour and her PLO sympathizing cohorts.

As far as Fox goes, I refuse to watch much of Greta Von Sustern and Whoreraldo Rivera because of their biases in the past. But the two must be given their due, they can handle the typical cheap LA murder story. If the Blake story keeps them from covering domestic and foreign political matters, that seems like a victory for the unvarnished truth.

The first segment on Saturday Nite Live was a parody on Blake & the media. It was ok but what I really wanted to see was algore & his recently televised 'flop sweat' speech. I don't know how they missed doing that.

It would be a be mistake for them to do so. I've been gathering most of my news and research from the internet, Free Republic in particular. I think more and more people are turning to the web and turning off the tv. The tv news media barely scratches the surface in terms of their discussion and follow-up of important stories.

FWIW, Aaron Brown of CNN made a comment that his ratings the evening of the OJ-like coverage of the Robert Blake arrest were the highest of his 7-month old evening show. Personally, I thought all the cable networks were pathetic.

THAT was hysterical. I turned to my hubby and said that they lifted Geraldo's blather about Blake from Fox word for word. I don't know which SNL actor was doing Geraldo, but he was spot on.

I really think you would spend your time better trying to get ride of Celebrity Wrestling, World Wrestling Federation, sitcoms such as Friends, Ellen, Rosie, etcetera. On the other hand, we live in a capitalist society ... they have the right (and the duty to their shareholders) to pump up the ratings ... otherwise you go the route of NPR, et al, trying to "raise public consciousness".

I saw the skit too and the one following bashing the Pope and Cardinals...then I realized Alec Baldwin(missed the opening) was hosting and turned it off....that should answer your question why they did not spoof algore's sweaty speech.
