Unspeakable Abomination
An excerpt from Bishop Fabian Bruskewitz's column in the Southern Nebraska Register
No words that are printable, or even conceivable, are adequate to express my outrage, fury, and depression upon learning that anyone, much less a priest, would sexually molest any children. Such a thing is an unspeakable abomination. Upon hearing about such things, I must confess that I am tempted to look for my shotgun and baseball bat, much sooner than I am tempted to give any consideration to a possible sickness in a perpetrator. Molestation victims and their families are certainly entitled to anger. Sometimes their excessive anger and demands, while often unacceptable and unreasonable, are still understandable to me.
While not excusing those responsible for turning pedophiles loose in society, it should be remembered that the psychological establishment in our country (the odd studying the id?), which recently asserted that homosexual conduct is normal and good, was accustomed previously to proclaiming pedophiles curable and cured, when in fact they are and were not. Some American Bishops in their decisions evidently and unfortunately relied on such faulty and gravely flawed scientific evidence. More recent studies seem to show that pedophilia, like alchoholism, is a permanent situation, possibly controllable, might be recovering but never can be recovered.
Technically, he just reminded them that they were automatically self excommunicating by belonging to organizations that are at odds with the Catholic faith.
His courage in doing this is worthy of bravos, but it's not like he did anything other than speak the Church law that already exists. That we applaud a man for doing so shows how far we have fallen.

That is why there is such a thing as the Protestant Church.
I'm sorry, but this happens all the time in Protestant churches. And many protestants will also follow a pastor without questioning his authority or capabilities. I've seen and talked to many whose final answer on a subject will be "my pastor says so."
It's not just a Catholic thing.
It is now!
And you're wrong, the problem in the Protestant Church is philandering.
But you're right about the, "my pasture told me so"
Nevertheless, may the true believers in the Catholic Church clean their house Thoroughly
