'Just Sprinkle A Little Kiddy-Cocaine On Your Child's Applesauce';
CCHR Condemns FDA Irresponsibility In War On Drugs

LOS ANGELES, May 13 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Just when you thought it safe to have your kids eat at the dinner table, along comes the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approving stimulants with applesauce!
The Citizens Commission on Human Rights (CCHR) today condemned the irresponsible attitude the FDA has taken about America's child drugging epidemic when it approved revised labeling for a stimulant to include the option of sprinkling the drug onto a tablespoon of applesauce.
"Today, kids are being fed potentially addictive peppermint flavored antidepressants and 'sprinkle-on-your-food' stimulants. It's like telling them that cocaine is no more harmful than mom's apple pie. Furthermore, this applesauce and kiddy-cocaine mixture is prescribed for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), which has not been scientifically proven to exist," says Jan Eastgate, international president of CCHR. "Parents should be advised: 'Don't buy the diagnostic lie, stick to applesauce, and leave the stimulants alone.'"
The International Narcotics Control Board has several times urged the U.S. government to "exercise vigilance with regard to trade in and dispensing" of stimulants for children labeled as having ADHD. Ignoring these warnings, today six million American children are being prescribed brain-damaging psychiatric drugs, with a 37 percent increase in stimulant sales for "ADHD" since 1997.
Between 1988 and 1994, a 19-fold increase in prescriptions for newer antidepressants (SSRIs) was reported for children aged between two and 19 years. Prescriptions are most common among boys aged 10 to 14 and girls aged 15 to 19. Applesauce or not, the drug problem is likely to get worse.
Eastgate said, "Such drugs send the wrong message to children that they are unable to control their behavior without using a pill. By their teens, they cannot differentiate between a 'legal' drug and an 'illegal' one. We spend millions of dollars fighting the 'War on Drugs' but allow billions of dollars worth of brain- and mind-altering drugs to be legally pushed on children each year. And it's the FDA approving this for essentially fictitious psychiatric disorders."
CCHR is critical of Special Education under the Individuals with Disabilities in Education Act, which has become a gravy train for psychiatrists and psychologists diagnosing children with ADHD or "learning disorders" and hooking these kids on drugs. Of the approximate $50 billion spent annually on Special Education, an estimated $29 billion covers education for subjective "mental disorders," when the law was originally intended for children with physical handicaps such as autism, speech impediments, blindness or other physical disabilities.
Neither ADHD nor any "learning disability" has objective scientific criteria confirming their existence.

So, now, when the teacher and school nurse say "Your child has ADHD and this is how we treat it", the parents implicitly trust them. I bet the NEA is giggling all over the place!

Hmmm... 30 - 14 = 16 Years Old
35 -14 = 21 Years Old.
I believe it IS humanly possible. Unless you do your math differently?
My point is that, yes, lots of people MAY jump on these disorders and drugs TOO quickly, but to those who actually DO have a disorder, the drugs are a lifesaver. Don't be harrassed about this. I know people with severe ADHD, and I myself suffer from PTSD. People who try to deny that these things exist are just as narrow minded as the NEA who CREATE the disorders willy-nilly. It's just NOT a black and white issue.
Uh oh, I'll be on their watch list now.
He says that he would have been classified "ADHD" if that condition had existed when he was a child. He goes on to say that studies have proven that kids with "ADHD" tend to own their own businesses and do very well in society, WITHOUT Ritalin or other drugs. Basically, you're drugging the very people that are going to be most successful in life.
My own personal opinion is that about 75% of those taking Ritalin are actually 'normal' kids -- their behavior falls within 'normal' bounds -- but parents can't be bothered to care for a kid with higher-than-average energy levels and lower-than-average concentration.

Nope, we can't have that. The sheep must be sedate. Any sheep that would be out-of-step (inquisitive, quick learner, rebel(?), MUST BE SEDATED!.
Sleep,sleep,sleep my little sheep.
-Got married right out of high school
-Had an "accident"
-Somehow graduated from college at 16 and got a killer job
-Are named Whoopi Godberg
I disagree. I'm single, but I don't have any problem with people in their 20s gettng married and having kids. You may end up getting a few more responses about your opinion... that's a bold statement to make. Good luck.
Too many women have waited until they are in their late 30s and early 40s to try to have kids to find out that their biological clock has run out. I think there is a reason that God designed us females to only be fertile for so many years. I may be wrong, but the evidence is too strong to ignore.
End of pregnant woman rant.
