I do agree (and am glad) that the Dems may not be getting the high degree of public outrage that they would like. However, as much as I dislike them, I don't view them as lightweight foes. I think they may have expected only a small percentage of people would change their opinion of Bush as a result of this manufactured "scandal". But for them, this is an incremental step forward in the early innings of this current election cycle. Rememer the October Surprise Bush DWI story the weekend before the Presidential election? Post-voting booth polling seemed to indicate a percentage or two of voters were swayed by that story. And in a close election, it nearly changed the outcome.

I think this is just a foretaste of many more coordinated attacks to come before Election Day 2002 rolls around. Each attempt may only convert a few tepid Bush supporters, but with the help of the press and a malleable public, the Dems see a route to victory. To underestimate them is very dangerous.

But to underestimate the way Americans have related to Pres. Bush and his honesty and general approach to the job is THEIR mistake. His approval remains high in spite of all these never-ending "stories". Even Greta Van Susteren said she felt appalled at the things Democrats have been saying this week, that it is highly inappropriate about ANY president.

Yeah, it only takes a percent or two to really change the outcome in an election. Yesterday, one of the women at work asked me how you change your voter registration. BTW, she "was" a democrat. :o)

I agree with you. I never underestimate the Democrats, and neither should anyone else. This is only the beginning, and I still feel this is being coordinated by none other than ole crusty herself.
