Beirut police said a two-kilogram bomb of TNT had been placed under the driver's seat. The seat was found dozens of meters away from the twisted wreck.

It sounds like this was a test of the newly-invented car ejection seat. It looks like it's back to the drawing board.

I believe there should be reliable eyewitnesses(s) to the crime or enough evidence that would be the equivalent, for capital punishment to be enacted.

No - When you have a very reliable eyewitness, and other evidence and the DNA doesn't confirm, I would then ask if the DNA has been contaminated.
