The disposal of the watch case still really bothers me.

That and the drive to Luray bother me. It just doesn't make sense.

Somewhere on all these threads, we use to have maps that people had constructed of the exact places involved......I wish I was a better searcher so I could find them.

Real heavy-duty tinfoil theory, was the body found and forgotten during the search?

You know what, all the times we have discussed this, this is really beginning to creep me out. Somebody REALLY did what we said they did.

I will not be shocked at just about anything that comes out now. Honest.

He's had about all the latitude I'm willing to give him. I'm seriously getting upset about this now. Tied up??? Dumped? Heck, this is worse than even WE could have imagined. And it's probably going to just get worse. I pray that there is ONE CLUE out there in those woods that links this creep to her. JUST ONE.

"Based on the forensic evidence, it might be difficult or impossible to pinpoint the precise time of death. Which unfortunately gives Condit a lot of latitude..."

That's going to be a major problem for prosecuting anyone. The longer a body is not found, the harder it is to pinpoint time of death within any reasonable timeframe. I would bet Chandra died within an hour or two of logging off her computer in her apartment, but I can't PROVE it, and neither will anybody else be able to. So Condit's lack of an alibi for that timeframe won't be an especially telling point in the event he is charged.

Interesting theory. It is hard to fathom that the perp would provide written evidence to lure the victim to the crime scene. Maybe a phone call or pre-arranged meeting. How would the perp know the evidence was destroyed?

Yes, for sure. I really had very little hope she would actually be found.

It's like the Lindburgh baby kidnapping and murder in the 30's. A guy stops his truck along a road to run off into the woods to pee and wham, sees the little skull and part of the bones in a shallow grave. This was in a wooded and brushy area a couple of miles as the crow flies from the Lindburgh's home were the baby was kidnapped. Otherwise the baby would never have been found, and the Lindburghs would never have known what happened to their son.

Very similar to this case except this time it was the proverbial guy walking his dog. It's simply amazing that Chandra was actually turned up and right where she seemed to be going when she left her apartment. Occam's razor, indeed.

But Condit would still be in serious trouble if it can be proven that the body was dumped there after she was murdered elsewhere.

So if the turtle hunter who found the body was also in the same area doing the same thing last year in observance of World Turtle Day May 23rd, then obviously the body was dumped there later, as his dog didn't find it or else he would've called the police.

Maybe that's why nobody knows who this guy is. Could be a key witness to prove that the murder took place elsewhere.

Apparently over the past year, the body has surfaced through erosion and animals.

My understanding is that one of the few things that the DC Police have ruled out is the 'shallow grave' theory. Apparently there is sufficient material on and under the remains to make this impossible.

I don't recall the date of Condit's visit to Luray, but suppose he went there to establish an alibi? He calls someone with the expectation that his location will be discovered and he will claim he was there at the time of death. Perhaps the Luray trip was meant to throw off the investigation should it go that far.

So the police seem to think she was simply deposited on the surface of the soil and left?

There should be a search for the watch, which probably will not be in Rock Creek. Condit took the watch from Chandra, in order to keep from being implicated. But what he did with it, is the question of the day. There has to be a search for the watch.

Too bad that we'll never know if she was pregnant.

Has anyone mentioned the maintenance people who regularly take care of the park?

Especially asking if a set of keys were ever turned in to them.

May 7th, 16th, or 17th or somewhere in between. I think there was a slight discrepancy in when Anne Marie Smith said she recieved the call. It was after midnight late on the 16th or early AM on the 17th, if memory serves correctly.

That is why I maintain that the body was buried elsewhere, decomposed and stank there, and then after Sept. 11 was moved and dumped over this drop-off off of Broad Branch Rd into the edge of the Rock Creek park. Earth on the bones will show whether it is local earth from the place where she was found, or from Virginia as I suspect.
