Believing it is possible she took a taxi into the park to meet someone she knew, detectives plan to interview scores of taxi drivers in the coming days, sources said.

Now that it has been over 55 weeks, we can be sure no one will remember anything. Time to do interviews.

"I don't see any reason in the world for him not to cooperate at this point because I think this is going to exonerate him," Geragos said on CNN's "Larry King Live."

Wonder if he made this statement in good faith, or whether he will renege, like he did over the alibi timeline. Oh, wait a minute, he's a defense attornee, silly question, sorry I brought it up.

They say the killer might have taken the ring to sell or as a trophy? How about to disguise who the victim was - especially if someone she knew killed her? Odd they left that out. (As an aside, I can't believe that little ring cost $416 either - if it was bought by her family in Modesto, the jewelry stores there are overcharging like crazy!)

Or how about the perp took the keys and jewelry to make it look like a robbery?

Finding something as obvious as an engraved pinky ring certainly would be a good red-herring.

Searchers will find the ring in Mordor, where the shadows lie.

If they can find the ring, the bracelet or the keys, the police may have their most promising lead after 13 months of frustration.

Have they checked Condit's jewelry box?

All dedectable by metal detectors if you want to delay discovery of the body. So where do you dispose them ? How about the caverns ?

"May 22, 2001 Chandra Levy's remains were found on a wooded hillside in Rock Creek Park by a man walking his dog..."

"The body was identified from dental records. Investigation at the scene produced Chandra's ring bearing the initials "CL". The body was decomposed and not intact. Police found knotted stretch leggings and surmised that Chandra may have been retrained with the knotted clothing. The skull they found was "not pristine and the bones were scattered. [Emphasis mine.]
The Chandra Levy Chronology (Rev. #9)

They found a ring bearing CL initials. Questions, since the body was not intact the skull was identified by dental records and not necessarily the rest of the skeletal remains. Though claiming to find a properly initialized ring leads one to believe that the skeletal remains are Chandra's, it could have also been an intentional planting of evidence by the criminal. Which would be good diversion if the the skeletal remains are from a different person. If the skull was detached that's cause to do DNA tests to ensure a bone match or planting false evidence.

In this morning's news DC Police are searching the grassy knoll where Moongirl's skeleton remains were found using highly trained metal detecting dogs, a special bread, the name now escapes me (metallicas?) So far they've found seven pennies, a dime and two nickels as well as a couple of government issue paper clips and a rusty coat hanger (a walk in abortion clinic in the park7) plus a folded up one dollar bill (don't ask, I only report what I hear,) but interestingly enough no quarters, which may be significant in the same way as the dog that didn't bark, all of it just enough to pay for a Kripy Kreme for one dog handling police officer. The search continues...

Maybe Condit disposed of the jewelry the same way he tried to get rid of the watch box, only no one saw him do it that time.
