Abortion, like other forms of homicide, is a matter which falls squarely within state jurisdiction. Issues of due process are only applicable against the government, rather than against states; if they weren't, states like Texas could not allow the lattitude they do in their "self-defense" laws.

katherineisgreat, you probably weren't a member way back when this happened... I chanced upon an abortion post a couple of years ago, and for some reason most of those who replied were the women members of the board, and their "take" on it was very, very interesting.
The first thing I noticed was that they all mentioned "when their children asked that awful question, "Mommy, what's an abortion?'"
Their kids were universally horrified that any Mother "would do that to their babies!"
( An aside? The average age of this question seemed to be 8 or 9 years, which rather horrified me- I was a teenager before I ever heard of it! )
The other thing I read- and God as my Judge, it made my skin crawl, the hairs on my neck stand up, it was sooo eerie-- one woman asked her toddler
( about 2 years old, as she put it, "not really able to talk much yet, just babbling words..." )
"Honey, what was it like when you were in my belly?"
His answer? "Wet..."
Somebody out there explain to this old wrecker driver, who isn't as well educated as some folks, not as "sophisticated"-- how a little child who can't talk well, who was "just a blob of protoplasm- a 'fetus'"- could be aware of "wet" in his mother's womb?

See, I'd like for the states to be able to regulate abortion, but since the feds have intervened I think we have reached a point of no return. It should never have happened this way.

I hope your teacher doesn't take a whole bunch of points off for misspelling "its"You're assuming the teacher will even notice. This is a public school, after all.

Even if these stats were accurate (they are only reported by the abortion industry - there are no government regulations nor need to file) there are now many, many post-abortive women coming out of their dark closets in protest against abortion and what damaging life long effects their abortions have had on their lives.

The most effective deterrent for any problem (drugs, promiscuity, smoking, robbery, tax evasion, etc) is a reformed perpetrator telling his or her story.

I told you I would be back. You did an excellent job. I'm very impressed and I learned some things too. Keep up the good work and stand firm. Let us know what your grade is.
*ping* for the rest of you. A very good read!
