So, the eco-whackos at EPA sent out one of their regularly scheduled "Administrative Reports" on global warming to the United Nations again. This time, some desk- bound, far-left resident bureaucrat also sent the "report" to the media as an "official" administrative response.
. . . Yawn. . . .
Problem is, they forgot to show it to the adults in the administration first. So, the "report" received a couple days free play by the liberal media before President Bush put the kibosh on that foolishness.
Perhaps a little about the public schizophrenia of these bureaucrats and their counterparts could be instructive. For instance, back in the 1970s, the capitalism haters on the far-left started rumors that, if Man did not change his ways, Man would cause a new ice age. They brought out their charts and graphs -- and trotted out a couple scientists who happened to be famous in fields that had nothing whatsoever to do with climate changes -- and attempted to convince the masses.
Many of us still remember those hilarious stories of "nuclear winter" and one wag even got on TV and postulated that a certain volcano out in Washington could and might throw the whole Northern hemisphere into winter when it blew its top. It was all sensational stuff, so the national media encouraged them to babble on. Eventually, the volcano did bring up a major Earth belch, but there was no affect on the nation's weather and those "scientists" finally had to go away and be quiet.
Well, it's always something. So, when they regrouped, they came back with a full court press of charts and graphs, and of course, their silly computer models. Yeah, it's global warming this time.
But wait just a cotton-picken' second here! They were 100% totally wrong last time. They still cannot get a five day weather forecast correct. Yet, we are expected to not laugh in their faces when they "project" massive global warming problems twenty years down the road?
How silly!
Back in my school days, a few decades ago, I was taught that the Earth is still coming out of the last ice age. All indications seem to point to the truth of that. Glaciers are still melting, there is a very slight warming trend sometimes evident in some areas of the world. Crops are growing better in many areas of the world. And, more and more people are moving to northern areas and are living relatively comfortably.
There's something not to like here? What?
Oh, the ozone hole.
What do we actually know about that ozone hole? Turns out, not much. That's because we do not really have any history to fall back on. Yet another problem is that we are in a rather goofy sun-spot cycle that is not always behaving as expected. That could very much affect the ozone and our weather.
What really affects the ozone hole? In truth, we do not really know -- not for sure, anyway. Two bits says the sun's activity has a great deal to do with it.
In the Northern Hemisphere, we like to watch the northern lights(1), or Aurora Borealis. That light show is caused by a collision between a combination of the gases in the atmosphere and the billions of incoming electrically charged solar particles from the sun. Does that activity affect the ozone?
Of course, there are also "southern lights"(2) that are just as spectacular. How do these activities affect our atmosphere and how long has this been going on?
Oh, never mind. We don't need to know that. The eco-whackos want us to believe they have all of nature's answers and it is the capitalists who are the perpetrators of all ills.
So, okay, they will admit that it is periodic activity of the sun causing some of our atmospheric cycles. Therefore, they branched out a little and now would have us believe that man is expanding the planet's carbon dioxide -- one of Earths most plentiful gasses -- and that is what will cause global warming.
Cute story; but no cigar that time, either. Because, one newly active volcano can put as much CO2 in the atmosphere in a few minutes as the whole of our nation can in a decade. So, how many active volcanoes are there in the world at any one time? Besides, all the green stuff these eco-whackos like to see growing would prosper greatly if there were any increase in CO2. Are our farmers noticing larger and faster growing crops yet? For more of the real story on CO2, visit the Center for the Study of Carbon Dioxide and Global Change.(4)
There's yet another little problem that needs addressing. All these "scientists" quoted so liberally by the popular media are government funded through grants and whatnot. And, let's face it folks, those liberal bureaucratic holdovers from the Clinton Administration will not give out grants to researchers working to disprove the global warming myth. All these university people know that they either stick with the party line or not get any more free money.
In short, we should treat them today just like we did back when they came out with all those silly "global cooling" stories: Laugh at them.

Instead of being 92 it was 90.05. Big whoop-de-doo.
A really big blowout like in the 1800's could cause more change. I think England had a year where it snowed in June? not sure of the year but it was the early 1800's. The next year things were back to normal.

The environmentalists in Pennsylvania were trying to switch all the asphalt area of the Pennsylvania Turnpike to cement. Asphalt is oil based (bad) and cement slag (good) based. In 1992, they switched a good portion to cement.
Results: That wooded area is dying at a record pace because of the heat and radiation reflecting from the cement. Don't believe me? Drive from Breezewood east, up the big hill to the next exit. You will see trees dying by the millions.
Of course, now they are switching back to asphalt.
You bet it is. Just come to Texas in June, July, or August and see for yourself. It gets hot as hellz. Oh, if you come in Jan. or Feb. wear your parka. We have global cooling too.
