The full document will be posted as soon as we get it all scanned in and uploaded. I've also signed up for a Pacer account, so hopefully I will be able to obtain an electronic copy as soon as I receive my password (assuming they have the document on file). The password is coming via snail mail.

Is a full list of proscribed periodicals on the way?

Thanks for posting, Jim. I'll give it a mega-ping...

Click on each link above. That is the full list. As soon as I get an electronic copy, I will have John link to it from the posting page. There are only about a dozen of these publications that I can recall seeing posted here. I've listed them all in the main post above.

There's an awful lot of little side companies there and publications that we'd probably only post from once every six months or so anyway (San Antonio TV station web sites, etc). It'd probably be a good idea to methodically find out the URLs of every single site related to any of these related companies and rig up a way to have the software kick over any post from those URLs to a moderator for double checking. I mean, how many of us are going to remember we can't post from WKMG-TV?

Thanks for the Update.
Personally I would like to see us post as little from all of these as we can. A lot of information they have can be found in papers like The Daily Oklahoman which is owned by the Gaylord Family right here in OKC. The Las Vegas Sun carries AP articles so no need to give the Wash Post any hits for those! The less we use those papers/periodicals the better IMHO!

The Hartford Courant, whaddja know?
Appreciated your posts from my old employer. Have you checked out the Providence Journal? Some great articles there. Projo's new site crashes my browser however and I miss reading it.

They own all that? How about a class action anti-trust lawsuit?

Why don't we just post from the World Socialist Web Site? Not much different from the Washington Post and LA Times. Slightly more strident but the gist of the articles are the same. Sometimes they even are first with the party line.

HERE is the list I post from (my own site), and a link at the top takes you to newspapers. I will track down the LA/WTP companies if I can and delete them from my list.

I thought you told me you left that darn cat in Klamath Falls, OR!!!

It would be interesting to develop a computer program to automatically rewrite news articles to preserve the "facts" and quotes from the articles, but sufficiently different to avoid copyright issues.

Put a simple list, in "list" format in the posting guidlines of which pubs we have to use links and excerpts.
You guys spend enough time chasing people down already. It's nice to see you free up some time for debate once in a while like you did the other night.

Thanks. I THINK this doesn't effect me here for the most part. I didn't see any of the local papers covered.
However, If you see "Click on Detroit.com"(WDIV channel 4) as a source(rare, but happens), I'm 90% sure that has to be pulled. I think Post-Newsweek owns it.
ALL - for AP, I go to Mlive.
To: LarryLied; 2Trievers
Hartford Courant I hate that paper. Those are the f'ers that wrote a hit piece on us, calling the site Anti-Semetic for protesting Joe Lieberman on a Saturday.
To: JeanS
That was Buddy the dog- we don't hear anything about Socks the cat's post White House living (or dying) conditions.
To: PhiKapMom
Personally I would like to see us post as little from all of these as we can.I noticed a couple that I use very often that I didn't realize were related to LAT/WP.
I guess I'll just have to change my browsing habits to other sources.
Shouldn't be too difficult, I've been meaning to re-organize my bookmarks anyway.
I'll just purge the links from my "favorites" while I'm at it.

Don't worry about postings from the Baltimore Sun even though the LA Times owns them. The paper is not fit to eat crabs off, and they are going down the tubes.
Very few posts from the Sun, they are history.

In the past I have posted articles from the Chicago Tribune. You might have to purge 6 - 10 threads I posted over the last 4 years due to that. No More! I have removed my bookmark to that web site.

Good idea! I need to purge my bookmarks also for some of these! I didn't realize the Orlando Sentinel was part of this deal either.

Very few posts from the Sun, they are history.I've posted a few from the Sun regarding the Maglev issue.
No problem boycotting them, though.
I'm rooting for the project to be awarded to Pittsburgh anyway.
The less publicity for Baltimore, the better!!!
To: JeanS
Oh, that Socks C..., well I certainly hope he/she was not too severly injured. Anyone out there hear from FR's Socks C lately?
To: 68-69TonkinGulfYatchClub
Thanks for the ping, Tonk. Wow! This is more complicated than I expected.

It would be interesting to develop a computer program to automatically rewrite news articles to preserve the "facts" and quotes from the articles, but sufficiently different to avoid copyright issues.Running an article through Babelfish a few times might do it.
To: Jim Robinson
Can we not post articles at all from these publications, or can we only include just a short excerpt and link from the sources you named?
To: Jim Robinson
Holy crap....
I assume this laundry list of periodicals (I assumed there was just one or two other ones when the settlement was announced) will be put into the page when we try to make a new thread? Better yet, the software could forbid us posting anything with these periodicals as the source.
We can't remember all of this on our own, I don't think.
To: 68-69TonkinGulfYatchClub
Thank you very much for the flag here. I will bookmark this thread and try to remember all this!
