USO Canteen FReeper Style...Salutes One of Our Own....June 25,2002
FRiends of the USO Canteen FReeper Style and Snow Bunny

Posted on 06/25/2002 2:31:57 AM PDT by Snow Bunny

Today at the USO Canteen FReeper Style is a very special day. We have all heard that once a Marine always a Marine and that is more true than naught.

There is no finer example of a Marine and a FReeper than LadyX . Her travels in life and into the lives of others has been numerous. Today join us in celebrating LadyX and her 50 years as a Marine.

Many of you have written to me of your appreciation for knowing LadyX and how today marks 50 years since she became a Marine. This is surprise to LadyX and OUR thank to you LadyX, for serving our country and for being a wonderful FReeper and friend.

Her service was during the Korean Conflict in the United States Marine Corps, instructing Women Marine recruits in classroom subjects, and later as a military wife.

With the Marine Corps at its greatest buildup then, for Korean combat, Women Marines freed men for their primary role - to protect our Republic and its ideals.

This is one of my favorite posts that LadyX made.
I saved it and cherish her words.

Good morning Larry. While it's true I was assigned to HQ Space Division for part of my Air Force career, I was but a public affairs officer, not a space cadet! hehe

Great history lesson, Linda!

Happy birthday to the only 5-star General of the Air Force -- Henry "Hap" Arnold! General Arnold was especially interested in the development of sophisticated aerospace technology to give the United States an edge in achieving air superiority. He fostered the development of jet aircraft, rockets, rocket assisted takeoff and supersonic flight.

What a wonderful way to start my morning! This is a beautiful and fitting tribute to a beautiful and tireless patriot.

LadyX: God Bless you and your wonderful family. You are all shining examples of what makes this country the best. You have so much to be proud of and have achieved so much in your lifetime.

May God continue to shower you and your family with His Blessings.

Arnold helped found the Air Force Association. I am a Life Member. I wonder if the Arnold Air Society still exists at AFROTC colleges? Going to the Post Office and the U Maine Machias gym. Be back to lurk more at women in uniform.

LadyX: It was 50 years ago today that you entered the Marine Corps.
You served proudly, then continued to serve as a military wife.
You raised your children with a sense of pride for their country.
You continue to serve our country in so many different ways.
I am honored to call you Sister and FRiend.
Thank You for your service to our country.

SALUTE

Snow Bunny, what an outstanding tribute.

LadyX, I mostly lurk here but have to say Happy Anniversary and thank you for your service. Obviously you have left quite a legacy by virtue of your family's continued service.

Yes, the Arnold Air Society is still there. My (step)son is a member at the University of Oklahoma. He is in the Air Force ROTC program there. He goes for basic training starting this week through July. I have to tell you, we are VERY proud of him. :)
