Happy 4th, friend. Did my usual 6 a.m. walk with a friend. Came home, made potato salad, fruit salad, marinated cucumbers, baked beans etc. for cookout this evening.

This afternoon, hubby, his parents and I met my walking buddy and family at a TOP SECRET location to watch the Thunderbirds do their traditional 4th of July show at the Battle Creek hot-air balloon festival.

Wonderful day - am getting close to sleepy time.

Prayers for the victims of the LAX shooting.

What, you mean everyone didn't spend the evening in the garage sanding?

Well, why have a holiday then.. ?

Watched a Richard Rogers salute. Loved every moment! He gave us so MUCH! I felt privileged to be alive to have been inspired by his music whilst he was here & to have heard this tribute to his music!

I wish I could see it. Time to head for the roof to scope out the fireworks.

Went to work, still am in fact.

Same here. Restrained rational impulse to scream at employer who was "shocked, shocked,
I tell you" that I was coming into take care of some extra, inane Bravo Sierra requested
by a head honcho.

Oh well, I won't drown while having fun at the lake or die in a car wreck on a
crowded expressway...

...when the fans, apparently including those from whom I expected the negative response,
began singing at the point where the young singer left off...

One good reason for living...you never know when people will unexpectedly
do the right thing.
It is a beautiful thing, although sometimes even unsettling (as in "I must be
having a stroke!").

This morning we went to the downtown parade where our grandson was marching in the band. They had lots of flags. In the afternoon we went to a friends house for a potluck with our church family. This evening we will be walking down to the river where they have a real nice fireworks display.

Check this one out, but turn speakers on first.

Isn't it early? I thought this went on until 10:30 (my time).

BTW did you hear the announcer before the last break call the 1812 Overture everybody's favorite sing along? There's words?

I also don't understand the Pops' obsession with this. Wasn't Englane invadint the infant US in 1812?
