[history]
Some European academics, outraged that Jews would defend themselves against terrorism, have been calling for a boycott of their Israeli counterparts, but Mona Baker of Britain's University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology is actually doing something about it. She fired a pair of Israeli scholars from the academic journals she owns simply because they are Israelis.

I guess it would be OK if they were Arab terrorists, though.

There is a growing disconnect between Europe/UK and America on the Middle East. It will get worse before it gets better. For instance, US vs Iraq. If an attack on Iraq is executed by the US, will these anti-Israel feelings in Europe make the job of attacking Iraq more difficult?

I wonder if she ever fired Soviets.

The article doesn't mention the fact that Mona Baker is Egyptian.

You heard that France is against the planned US attack on Iraq? Is that news?

Arabs will always be Arabs.
Quite frankly I can't think of any real Brit who would do such an idiotic and racist thing.
How about firing all Egyptians working in the US because of 911 and the recent attack? It would be more justifyied than this.

She's in good company with her fellow Nazis who purged all the Jews from German university faculties in the early 30's.

She fired a pair of Israeli scholars from the academic journals she ownsHuh? I've never heard of a legitimate academic journal which was personally owned by an individual. If these Israelis were working for this woman's personal rags, which have no editorial and managerial oversight by a university or by an academic or professional organization, then they're as nutty as she is.
