Bad strategy for W. He should have videotaped a message, or sent Cheney, or Rice or Powell.....Laura would have been a great choice. He let them set him up.

No!

A thousand times, No!

God's Peace! I say no again!

Nothing personal, mind you, but I would have George W. Bush announce that he was going to spend the day watching then ENTIRE Shaft film series (the good ones, the originals with Richard Roundtree, the King Of Blaxploitation Films) than honor a racist, partisan organization with his presence.

Let me tell you what they did to George W. Bush. He ran in 2000 as a Center-Right conservative who was trying to reach out to all ethnic groups. He wanted to send a signal that black voters should vote strategically, instead of voting as a block. He tried to highlight issues that really mattered in the black community, such as education reform. He even spoke of a Federal initiative to end "racial profiling".

It got him the James Byrd Ad. That ad, which every Republican man and boy should remember till his dying day, tied George W. Bush to the dragging death of James Byrd, a citizen of the State of Texas. It goes without saying that the case was jumped on at the time by Bush's Texas Rangers and the rest of Texas' Law Enforcement community. Today, one of the conspirators has a life term, while the other is on Death Row.

This was a man whose father used his influence with the late Arthur Annenberg to leave almost a hundred million dollars to the United Negro College Fund. None of that was remembered, nor would it be, because the present day leaders of the "black community" have become little more than toadies for the super-wealthy individuals, virtually all of them white, who run the Democratic Party.

My choicest pick for "quote of the day" goes to the NAACP's own Hillary Shelton, one of the NAACP's head lobbyists in Washington:

Bush paused briefly and with a slight smile, answered Hillman's question.

"Let's see. There I was, sitting around the table with foreign leaders, looking at Colin Powell and Condi Rice. Yeah," Bush said.

Hillary Shelton, director of the NAACP's legislative office in Washington, reacted with some surprise.

"He said that?" said Shelton from the group's convention in Houston.

Yes, you dumb bitch, he said that.

She would then go on to outline how little influence Rice and Powell have in the administration. Good God, when Rice is running for Vice-President, what are they going to say, then?

Oh yeah, they'll call her an Aunt Jemima (as opposed to Uncle Tom).

These people disgust me.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

I would say that working to see that their a$$e$ don't get blown away by terrorists would be considered of relative import to blacks.

They are killing each other without help from the terrorists. Maybe these NAALCP should focus on this issue and quit whining that we no longer have a pandering black President.

PS: Clinton is just as guilty as O.J. Simpson.

Your mission today is to find a more poorly written sentence.

I have a perfect candidate:
Recording the recorded recording, the recorder recorded the recording of the recorder recording the recording recorded by the recorder that recorded the recording from the recorder.

If given enough time and a large enough carrot at the end of a stick, I would make the heroic effort to create, fabricate and mold a sentence that is more poorly written than the one that you have referenced; but I don’t think that at this late stage of the night and with the vast and gross number of brain cells that I have murdered in the last 20 years it would be a great or even good idea for me to under take this proposition, therefore I will humbly pass and not even make an effort, even if the sentence started with the classic line, “It was a dark and stormy night”.

where he netted less than 9 percent of the vote during the 2000 presidential election.

Why should he?

I want to know what the NAACP has done for the War on Terrorism or in support of our troops overseas. What's more, what have they done for domestic tranquility? All they've seen fit to do is boycott a state and stir up trouble over a flag that a Democratic brethren raised during the Civil War centennial. If these fools only knew how stupid they make themselves look.

Hmmmm....let's see...you basically call the guy a con-artist and a racist. You say electing republicans means more churches will burn...and you make a commercial critical of Bush with the sounds of chains clanging in the background.

Then...you ask why he won't give you the time of day and speak at your convention? Man...you guys really are stupid (OR YOU KNOW WHY...AND IN TYPICAL DNC FASHION...YOU ARE USING FEAR AND HATRED TO DIVIDE AMERICA) Worse yet...I don't know who is stupider...the guys who "don't understand" or the people who think you have a legitimate complaint.

It seems common sense has left the building.

Shelton told United Press International that while his organization celebrates Rice and Powell's role in the administration, it recognizes that they have no impact on domestic policy important to blacks.

Uh huh, and he forgot all about Rod Paige, who just hailed the Supreme Court ruling on vouchers (which most blacks support).

Then, of course, there were those commercials run by the NAALCP that basically depicted Bush as a murderer. Now why would Bush want to speak to these people?

"He does have a very troubling record on civil rights," Shelton said of Bush.

Call me stupid, but will someone please tell me where this "troubling record on civil rights" comes from? How and why is it "very troubling?"

I get the distinct impression that they say that because Bush refuses to kiss their feet as Clinton did. And the crack about their organization granting them special privledge and access to the White House is completely nuts.

Why should the President go to a conference where the participants engage in ongoing ad hominum remarks about him and his administration? Seems to me that they forfeited any realistic opportunities at dialog; they continue to forfeit until they are willing to come to the table in a respectful fashion. The respect they demand goes both ways.

If you want on (or off) of my black conservative ping list, please let me know via FREEPmail. (And no, you don't have to be black to be on the list!)

...

-2- And does Rod Paige have no impact on domestic policy important to blacks? I repeat, some people refuse to be satisfied.

You took the words out of my mouth. Probably the BIGGEST "black issue" is headed by a black man... and its a domestic issue too...

I want to know, what exactly the h#ll is wrong with these people.

Why in the world would Bush attend this joke of a convention? I live in Houston and today on our local talk radio shows heard plenty of the crap that has come out of it so far. The NAACP is just another branch of the Democratic party and is not deserving of the President's time or attention. He has important things to attend to, unlike the folks at this 'convention'.

Bingo!

I believe President Bush's policy on the NAACP is exactly the same as his policy on the Palestinian Authority...he'll talk to them after they get responsible leadership.
