VA-ALERT: First VCDL Gun Show in Roanoke! Help needed!

On July 27-28, the Virginia Citizens Defense League will officially expand into southwest Virginia through our booth at the C&E Gun Show, Salem Civic Center. Our objective is to establish a local network of gun-rights activists.

The Problem: We currently have no network of people there from which to draw volunteers to help with the booth.

So if YOU are getting this message and live within driving distance of the Salem/Roanoke area, WE NEED YOUR HELP!

If YOU have friends or relatives in the area who can put you up for the night if you work a shift, WE NEED YOUR HELP!

This will be a very difficult show to staff. But it is critical that we have sufficient volunteers to help us build a self-sustaining organization there on this one weekend.

Shifts available:

Saturday, July 27
9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Sunday, July 28
10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

If you've never worked the VCDL table before, it's easy and fun. You'll enjoy meeting and talking with like-minded people, get into the gun show free, and be proud that you made an important contribution to defending the right to bear arms. At the booth we'll be signing up people for our e-mail alerts and for VCDL memberships, taking in donations, helping people with questions on firearms carry and permit laws (reference materials available on site), and making VCDL known to another area of the commonwealth. VCDL President Philip Van Cleave and I (and hopefully some other gun show veterans) will be there throughout the weekend to help and work with you. The more volunteers we have, the more successful we'll be in our outreach to the community. July 27-28 is IT! We need YOUR help.

You must be a member of VCDL to work our table. If you're not one now, you can join at the show for only $15 per year.

Please respond to dennis@vcdl.org if you can help.

Regards,
Dennis J. O'Connor
Director and Gun Show Coordinator

If you've never worked at a gun show before, I can tell you it's a lot of fun AND you qualify as a vendor so you get free admission (and sometimes better deals from other vendors).

VCDL formed in 1994 and was the driving force behind changing our concealed carry law from "discretionary" to "shall-issue". They got the job done when the NRA told 'em that it would never happen.

Please help if you can!

Do they have to be Virginia residents?

If not, check with Grass Roots North Carolina. GRNC's done the analogous work here - and is the group that liberal state legislators realize is the no-sellout gun-rights group here in North Carolina. Paul Valone is the guy to contact.

Scandals of antigun politicians - from Manhattan to Kalifornia!
