Head's up. (and 70 NEST activations already!) Oh no, don't panic.

And that it happens to be in the Detroit area is no coincidence in my opinion.

Michigan, eh?

Guess the dogs aren't headed to Houston.

Houston has a port...

I don't think that's what they meant. There were 70 alarms that turned out not to represent terrorist threats. Some of these might have been false alarms, some might have been unregistered equipment (illegal, but not connected with terrorism), some might have been legal shipments improperly shielded, etc.

In situations like this, one prefers to be cautious; one would rather err on the side of false positives than false negatives.

I hope they have plenty of those detectors in nearby Dearborn. That's where a whole lot of Muslims live and give money/support to such sterling, peace-loving organizations like Hezbollah and HAMAS. Worse than Raleigh and Charlotte, NC from what I have read.

Right - nothing found 70 times.

But this event has happened 2 months ago and nothing but the sensor has been discovered. Two days too late to catch the goods.

Hopefully it was a false alarm, but given the warning was in Detroit it really increases the odds of it being for real.

My area is big on Al Queda donations, ain't that grand?

i was hoping the high arab population in detroit and the lil ole MOSQUE we have slightly south of detroit would EXEMPT us from these kinds of threats.

isn't there some kind of islamic penalty in hell for blowing up a mosque? like, mebbe, you have to sleep with 75 phyllis dillers or something?

Actually, there IS an isamoc law that frbids them from waging jihad in any nation that allows openly "preaching" and "worshipping" for Muslims... but I digress...

That's waaaay too close to home for me. I had to be in the area last week - couldn't get out of there fast enough!

On the other hand if you look in the back yards of these fanatics in various parts of the world, it becomes very clear they spoil their own backyard all the time.

I know very little about international shipping but I have been wondering about a scenario that didn't make sense to me...

I work for a company on the opposite shore of Mich...The parent company is in Belgium...This company is in the process of receiving a machinery line from Belgium and the machinery is coming by way of Canada...

Not only could the parent company have shipped the machines to a US port and then trucked it on in, but they also could have run it aboard ship thru the Great Lakes to a Freshwater port not more than 15 minutes from here...

Just something I've been wondering about...
