[history]
A few months ago, Rep. Cynthia McKinney of Georgia famously accused President Bush of having foreknowledge of the Sept. 11 attacks and not acting to prevent them because, as she put it, "Persons close to this administration are poised to make huge profits off America's new war."

Getting to the truth sounds like a good project for the investigative staff of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution in advance of McKinney's Aug. 20 primary. For a minute there, I thought he was referring to a real newspaper...

Extra warning: this is a high-volume ping list.

I haven't been following the AJC on the primary, but...There's something in the water over there these days. Cynthia Tucker has actually made sense a few times lately.
I would not be surprised if they came out and endorsed Majette.

So at last somebody in the media has mentioned what we noticed long ago about Arab donations to McKinney on 9/11.

I'd have to agree on that front. Congress would be a better place without Cynthia McKinney.

If her opponent doesn't make this a campaign commercial, he deserves to die.

You mean "The Urinal and Constipation' is not a real paper?

Unfortunately, I've been reading that McKinney's primary opponent Majette has been trying to take the high road. I fear she lacks the killer instinct you need in politics.

There. That's more like it.

Yeah, her and Maxine Waters. I guess a better question is, why are they in Congress in the first place???

I am no Cynthia McKinney fan and this doesn't look that good. However, were these the dates that the checks were written or the day they were received? Because if people sent them through the mail on September 11th, they'd arrive over a period of a few days following the 11th (remember that there were no planes that week, so mail moved pretty slowly). You'd think that McKinney's staff would log in the checks when they arrived, not when they were dated (since you can write July 4, 1776 on a check and the bank won't really care, if they even notice.
I doubt they all arrived on the 11th: statistical theory will show that the distribution of her campaign reports is highly concentrated to a few days: evidently, it looks like her campaign received the checks and then "processes" them all at once for the FEC.
Why they chose September 11th to do this is beyond me. Presumably they aren't all early risers, and didn't get to work at 7:00 AM, were finished by 8:30 AM and at that point September 11th had no negative connotation -- yet. The campaign staffer or subcontractor or whomever must have known that there was an ongoing terrorist attack. We weren't certain it was middle east related, but we were 99.8% sure (although in his last days in office, Clinton let out a bunch of Puerto Rican terrorists, but PRs aren't going to buy all that 72 virgins or white raisin story.
I remember working on September 11th: from 8:00 AM to about 8:55 AM, I was working at my desk. After that, I didn't do much that day. So why did Cynthia's campain manager feel it necessary to work that day to enter in these Islamic names.
The only other explanation I have is that Cynthia McKinney held a fund raiser the night before and someone entered in the checks on the 11th. But this doesn't seem that sensible.

You're right. THere may be nothing there. Course that didn't stop HER did it. ;-) To be consistent I think she should call for an investigation on HERSELF and her OWN profiteering in the days after Sept 11 ;-)
