Gov. Kitzhaber, A.K.A. The Tinhorn Cowboy, fiddles as Oregon burns.

He should be publicly asking for federal relief from eco-pinhead lawsuits in order to clear out fuel for future fires, while restoring timber taxes which, according to the Oregon Constitution, go to public school funding.

Instead, he vetoes the hard bipartisan work of the Legislature, and warms his fiddle.

Local news update:
"Winds have been clocked at over 45 mph this afternoon in the fire region".
We live over the hill to the east; smoke pretty sparce today, more yesterday.
Don't want to sound harsh, but I'm personally glad the wind is away from our ranch.

Absolutely! This would be a great test case for him to do what you are talking about.

However, he will not do it as he is controlled totally by Andy Kerr, the ONRC and their enviral voting cult members.

He should on tv each and everyday screaming for logging in areas not burned up, logging in burnt areas last year and the areas where dead trees are after these fires.

He will not do it. Every unemployed logger and lumber product worker should make house calls on Kitzzy, Kerr and the elite fascists who control the ONRC.

Notice how Bozo hasn't made a trip to the largest fire in the nation, let alone Oregon the past week.

His vetoes are the old Rat shell game whenever there is a dollar shortage. They say cut schools and never look at the stuff that Lars Larson talks about as potential cuts everyday.

Instead, he vetoes the hard bipartisan work of the Legislature, and warms his fiddle.

So are these winds from the east or north east: "Winds have been clocked at over 45 mph this afternoon in the fire region".

You are not being harsh. When fires the size of this mother are blazing, you want to be on the up wind side.

Did you see Oregon Rancher's reply about the winds over the fire zone being clocked at over 45 mph?

That is a firefighter's worse night mare.

It is 98 on our back deck in the shade in the wine country and the wind is swirling around from different directions.

Glad, that I decided not to go Sacramento to fish in the high water flows thanks to Gray Davis and the hotter than heck temps.

My grand daughter knows where the off button on our tv is, and will push it if PaPa tries to watch CNBC during the day to see what the markets are doing.

Then on her last trip up, she found the master on/off button on my UPS and will sneak up and push that button if I'm using my computer unless we are playing games.

Her brother, Bam Bam, just grabs me and pulls me away and won't let go. He is the strongest 17 month old we have ever seen. If he grabs you to pull you away, you will go away with him or he'll break a finger or bruise your leg or what ever has hold of. His vocabulary is that of a Cro Magnon. He says UGH in various ways!

Ours was called the Cerro Grande fire. I still am not sure which mountain is Cerro Grande. Of course ours is about the only fire that burned mostly downhill. The gale force winds with 80 degree temperatures (in May) didnt help.

Wyden Seeks $50M in Firefighting Funds

08/08/2002

Associated Press

WASHINGTON, DC -- U.S. Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., sent a letter to President Bush Thursday urging him to release $50 million in federal funding to help fight wildfires in Oregon and other Western states.

The money is included in an emergency spending law Bush signed Aug. 2, but it cannot be released until the president sends a formal request to Congress indicating the fires in the West are a national emergency.

In the meantime, the U.S. Forest Service and other federal agencies are spending money allocated for other programs to fight the fires, which have burned more than 4 million acres in the West this year -- including more than 400,000 acres in Oregon.

"Fifty million dollars is a drop in the bucket compared to what the West really needs to fight fires, but right now the bucket is bone dry," Wyden said. "The president needs to act."

A top budget official assured a Senate committee last month that "no fires will go unfought this season," but Wyden and other Western senators say there is no reason officials should have to borrow from other accounts to fight fires.

Wyden is chairman of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources subcommittee on forests and public lands.

Okay Wyden, you get the 50 million when you and Da$$hole let us drill for oil in Anwr. Also, when you promise that there will be logging where approved and in the forests burnt up by your Green Jihadist buddies. You will insure that the Green Jihadists don't block authorized and legal logging.
