Mandatory Domestic Partner Benefits Will Happen If We Do Not Act Today

Please forward this to everyone you know in California. This could be happening in your town next if we do not act! The vote is scheduled for Thursday! Please read this now and act.

Re: AB 1080 – Your opposition urgently needed now!

Dear Fellow Californian:

Do you value the freedom to believe in God, and to practice your faith? This freedom is under an unusual attack in the California Senate. Assembly Bill 1080 is expected to be heard in the Senate Appropriations Committee this week, and could be sent to a vote on the Senate floor before the week is over. Your action in signing our petition at http://65.119.177.230/petition.html is needed now, to defeat this assault on our liberties.

AB 1080 will require every business, every social service provider, every religious college or hospital, to provide medical benefits to domestic partners [i.e. same sex couples] as a condition of doing business with the State of California. Think about the enormous impact this will have:

•Those who refuse, on religious or conscientious grounds, will have their state funding cut off, including both private businesses, non-profit and religious organizations. •Hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions of Californians will be impacted by the loss of services, when people of faith refuse to compromise. •California will be taxed to the limit to make upf or the lost services. •Some religious colleges and hospitals will be closed down, due to the lack of Cal Grant funds or Medi-Cal funds.

This is not simply a gay rights bill. This is about coercing people of faith to violate their conscience. The irony is that this assault on religious liberties is being perpetrated in the name of civil rights and equality.

Your voice will make a difference, but only if you raise it. Sign our on-line petition now, at http://65.119.177.230/petition.html. We will deliver your message to the California legislature. Did you know that as few as twelve letters from constituents can constitute a "flood" of mail, according to a staffer we spoke to? You, and your circle of influence, can get the attention of your State Senator, if you will take the time to sign the petition, and forward this email widely.

Thank you in advance for caring, and for doing your part. May God bless you.

In His Service,

Alan J. Reinach, Esq., President Seventh-day Adventist Church State Council 2686 Townsgate Road Westlake Village, CA 91361

Domestic partner benefits are already a fixture of the landscape - it's too late to stop them and conservatives just look "mean-spirited" now by trying.

I always thought that the appropriate end-around move would be for companies to allow each employee to designate one person to include on their benefits - it could be a spouse, parent, relative or even just a friend, but the company would not bother to inquire. This would solve the lawsuit problem while depriving gay activists of an agenda item and a platform.

Well since only heterosexual couples can be married there is no issue. And yes private parties and orginizations can discriminate within reason.

I did that about 30 years ago. The problem is that the nuts from that state keep infecting the rest of the nation. Part of the solution for the people who still live there is to wean themselves from puublic funds.

Let's give it back to Mexico. I wonder if that country would tolerate this nonsense.

Lots of businesses, individuals and families are moving. It's just going to get worse. I don't think we can move; too many family issues. And we apparently just love to suffer. Meanwhile, I keep volunteering my time and energy for causes, candidates and freeps. For victory & freedom!!!

That's the way it is where I work. Of course, the cost of two-party benefits to the worker is higher than of single-party benefits (but less than family.) It's sort of a 1, 2, many scale.

That would be the easiest policy to implement.
