Islamic Militant Making Bomb Killed

MULTAN, Pakistan, Aug 16, 2002 (AP Online via COMTEX) -- A suspected Islamic militant died Friday when the bomb he was allegedly building detonated prematurely at an Islamic school under construction in central Pakistan, police said. One other man was wounded in the blast. The explosion killed Alam Sher, who police said belonged to the outlawed Jaish-e-Mohammed group. Additional explosives were recovered at the scene, located in Sahiwal, 185 miles south of Islamabad, police added. Police suspect the wounded man may have been involved in constructing the bomb. They did not release his name. The explosion followed a police announcement that 12 members of Islamic extremist groups had been arrested for their role in various deadly attacks on Pakistani Christian institutions.

As much as I loathe our foreign aid programs, developments like this warrant some reconsideration; I wouldn't be at all opposed to sending them some Daisy Cutters to "play" with, just so long as they promised to put them in the basements of madrassas while they they perform their famous sledgehammer test.
