New Mail Procedure

Due to the anthrax attacks of October 15^th, the following procedure has been implemented to protect Members of Congress and their staffs.

1. Mail is first processed at a mail facility in Virginia (2-4 days).

2. Mail is then forwarded to a facility in Ohio for irradiation (10-14 days).

3. Mail is then forwarded to an additional facility that removes all non-paper contents (7-10 days).

4. Upon clearing these procedures, mail is then sorted and delivered to the individual Members offices.

Due to this process, there is a significant delay in mail delivery to the Senator’s office. We appreciate your understanding.
