Say What? The UN can go to hell. These people think they can tell the President what to do? Seeing how they are so good at telling people how to run their own business, why don't these people go do some good and take over China? That might be a step up. Trying to exert their non existant authority over the Iraq ass whoopin is a waste of their time.

How about we don't sanction any more fat ass checks heading in the direction of the UN?

If the U.N. doesn't sanction this next phase of the war on terrorism (WoT), it will essence make itself irrelevant to any freedom loving people on this planet.

It's painfully obvious that it's not Bush who is a corner, it's Annan. In one fell swoop Annan can alienate a large percentage of the population of America. Read: $$$.

We were attacked, Iraq is currently producing WoMD, harboring al-Qaeda fugitives.

I predict that once Iraq falls, Iran will be close behind. Hopefully not too far behind lest there be 2 nation-building exercises at once.

Where is Gen. MacArthur when we need him? He did a pretty good job with post-WWII Japan.

The US needs to withdraw from the UN. The UN is very much counterproductive to our best interests.

The U.N. is run by thugs, despots, tyrants, and scoundrels who are toadied to by sycophantic bootlicking morally bankrupt intellectual lightweights.

[U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan will tell President Bush on Thursday that only the United Nations can sanction the use of force against Iraq.]

To which we will reply: "Thank you for your concern, however WE, who were attacked on 9-11 for no other reason than our values and leadership position in the world, will take WHATEVER actions we see fit to ensure our security -- as required by our Constitution. And if this means bombing Iraq into submission, then that is what will happen, UN sanction notwithstanding. Best not to get in our way.

PS: No mention of our liberation of the people of Afghanistan, eh. Par for the leftists.

And in conclusion:

[The United States continues to accrue new debts to the world body and is now $1.2 billion in arrears for dues and peacekeeping expenses, despite an agreement in December 2000 from U.N. members to reduce the American contribution.]

WHEN is this dis-information going to be refuted by the USA? THERE IS NO "ARREARS"! We need to tally the costs that have been incurred by the US in various "peacekeeping" and other missions and SUBMIT IT TO THE UN FOR PAYMENT! By my count, they owe us.

Apologies to George Bush about Canadian prime minister Chretien
By
James Bredin
I’ll have to say that I’m thoroughly ashamed,
He’s looking for evidence to avoid being blamed,
By his socialist friends over in the UN zone,
And in appeasement he says, “Don’t do it alone.”

He just returned from meeting Castro and Mugabe,
Socialist/communist friends from Cuba and Zimbabwe,
Over in Johannesburg and gave them $billions for fun,
And now wants evidence of Saddam’s smoking gun.

Like Chamberlain when about nineteen thirty nine,
Held up a piece of paper saying “peace in our time.”
His policies of appeasement were exactly the same,
Chretien and his sixty-cent dollar – game of shame.

It makes every Canadian bow their head in disgrace,
Swamped in his multicultural bought socialist place,
Watching him as he goes through the political motions,
Pompous pious platitudes giving friends promotions.

Who’s side is he on, this indecisive flaccid waffle?
The chips are down and he’s beginning to look awful,
Will he want to join after the US and Britain succeed,
Will they listen to him then, with his UN socialist creed?

Yes, that would be it. Permanent member of the Security Council no less. The mind boggles. About the only security that France understands is that which comes from putting 25 cents in the little machine in the men's room.

The UN is a make-believe organization. Kofi Annan is the make-believe leader of a make-believe organization.

There is no chance a real leader of a real country will ever ask his permission to do anything.

If the UN were a real organization, it would have been actively marshalling its forces to contain Saddam and enforce its policies. Instead, the US has had to handle that duty. With no help from our phantom friends down at the phantom world headquarters.

And if the UN cannot proactively marshall its non-existent forces to help us, if all it plans to do is issue some kind of bogus license to do what objectively must be done, there is no purpose to our continued membership. It is just a place for dictators to send their troublesome inlaws, a career path for bureaucrats, and a retirement home for politicians past their prime.

We don't need it. Our diplomats already have a retirement plan.

It seems to me that the UN should be a non binding body only for discussion ONLY. The people who make friends there can act together, but a world-wide approval is BS.

It is good for people to talk, especially across cultures.

Secondly it also seems to me that, and based on my experience, you get too many people trying to please everyone so they get nothing done.

What it boils down to is some Africans (or whoever) get pissed off at the notion that their local dictator might have to give up his billion dollar fortune, and hence throw out the argument "that is culturally unacceptable". Then they gang up with other people in the same boat and block vote based on that.

The UN is a body "to protect my own ass"...
