I got raised by a single mom. I'd tell you how she is doing, but I havn't talked to her in decades. Last I heard she got dumped by her third husband and isn't doing so well. Too bad.
I would consider "making nice" and looking her up, but then all of those memories of her beating the snot out of me and cursing my father in the most vile ways you could imagine, then saying "and you're just like him" all comes back to me. I'm glad that there's over a thousand miles of distance between where I am and where she is, and I'm glad she has no idea of where I am.
And no, I'm not a sex offender or a criminal or anything. I turned into a workaholic and now I'm pretty much set for life. Funny how things work out sometimes.
Please, spare me the "you should go look her up" or "you should forgive her" replies. It's much better for all concerned that we keep our distance. I'll forgive her when she's dead.
