BEVERLY HILLS, California (Reuters) -- Apollo 11 astronaut Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin offered a spirited defense Wednesday as to why he decked a pushy filmmaker who wanted him to swear on a Bible that he really did go to the moon -- self defense.

I love it - Buzz whacked the jerk! Way to go for a 72 year old man - the reporter had at least 6" and 75 lbs on Buzz, at least! Buzz's daughter did her best to keep him away.

This is another one of those dreadful metaphors for the decline and fall of America. I was once privileged to meet Buzz, at a convention in Tucson. Definitely one of my heroes. I'm glad he was able to hold hos own against this creep.

Self-defense by Aldrin
Next case Exactly right! If I remember my tort law classes correctly then assault is the intent to do harm combined with the ability to do harm, and battery is any intentional, unpermitted contact. That bible poke fits both conditions.
Open and shut case!

I met Dr. Aldrin several years ago, oddly enough, on Apollo Day (July 20th, for those of you who don't know about the holiday-to-be that honors our highest achievement to date. . ). Hell of a guy, and wrote a pretty good novel. . .
