Joe Lieberman Comes Out as the FIRST DEM HAWK, PLans to Lead the Way on Senate Resolution of Force

On Fox, Joe Lieberman said he would introduce a resolution in the SENATE calling for use of force against Iraq. By so doing, he not only becomes the leading DEM "hawk" (obviously looking for the "Scoop Jackson" mantle) but now makes "Puff" Dascle's hopes of postponing this vote almost nil.

You said it. He wants to be on the record for supporting Bush the next time he runs.

My take:
Joey is all politics. He may be eying the '04 ticket but is definitely following the polls. This comes on the heels of the international community coming around as well--the last roadblock, putting aside the UN idiots. Iraq has already said no inspectors. The writing is on the wall. More important to him to is that the Jewish community has found that pubbies (and, egads, the Christian Right) have been the greatest supporters of Israel. The Rats get 25% of their $$ from Jews (or so I recently read here). That, with their turnout, makes them critical to continued Rat power. Joey is a Rat. As to being the "Conscience of the Senate"--that was a creature of the presstitutes. Sure, he came out and slapped Clinton, but for the sex with Moanica. Not for the crimes. Hence, Joey was part of the defense during impeachment. As for the support of the military, *spit*. He lied during the 02 recount and got on board when he had to. Those votes were never counted. Just like Joey truly wanted. Lieberman is a poseur....

" This is Lieberman's 2004 campaign, right here."
As people have been saying-" It's our national security, stupid ". He gets it and Biden gets it-wonder if they will be tangling for the nomination. Daschle will forever be tainted by his cowardly performance, Edwards has kept his mouth shut ( I think) and John Kerry of Mass has sided with Daschle and made very foolish, peacenik statements.Besides which-Kerry is really mean looking-can't imagine the voters would relish looking at that sourpuss for 4 years!

Re#17 You said it well and succinctly. I vented a little more at #22. ;^)

"Personally, I hope daschle does all he can to continue taking the stance that he is now taking. If he does, then the Republican Senatorial candidate in S.D. will greatly increase his chance of winning and possibly Daschle will be TOAST."The dream scenario would be having the Senate returned to Republican control due to the defeat of Little Tommie Daschle's Dem colleague in South Dakota. Anybody know how the poll nubers are going in that race?

if snivling Joe wants to do the right
thing, that makes it right thing --1
wrong thing --1005. Joe can't be seen
stalling cause bio scuds will be aimed at
Israel. Even Joe can't stutter that away.

The Gulf War featured numerous Dem "hawks", who had been AWOL in the Cold War, and voted against every Defense bill and weapons system.
They were anti-American, but pro-Israel. Could be more of the same here.

As I said earlier today, Daschle's latest comment about delaying Senate approval of the war with lots of questions was politically stupid. Lame-brained. It could only lose him votes.
I don't think Lieberman is suddenly growing into a moral giant. He's just a smarter political opportunist than Daschle. This move will really isolate Daschle and force him to make an embarrassing U-turn.

Lieberman has been calling for an attack on Iraq since 9-11 last year. Sure he's a liberal democRAT but at least he's consistent on this one issue.
To: Cicero
No, I did not mean he was a "moral giant." I meant, the Dems are backpedaling faster than Kordell Stewart under a Patriot rush!

Lieberman was gung-ho to get Iraq right after 9-11. This is not opportunism on his part.
To: Bubba_Leroy
A Lieberman/Gore administration would already have attacked Iraq, well before 9-11. Arabs hate Jews, Jews hate Arabs. Bush's election has only bought us time, and not much (given the hawkish stance we seem to have taken lately).
Nine-eleven could have been much worse, by a factor of ten (anthrax, bio, etc).

joe gets it because of his active participation in his religion and his understanding of relational politics . I get it because i am a freeper who has read innumerable news items from all over the world and the threat is clear to me.
