In the penultimate paragraph Mylroie concludes: "Given how decisive America's defeat of Iraq seemed in 1991, Saddam has accomplished a significant part of his program. He has secured the critical goal of ending UN weapons inspections, and he is now free to rebuild an arsenal of unconventional armaments. He has also succeeded in thoroughly confusing America as to the nature of the terrorist threat it has faced since the World Trade Center bombing. He is free, it would appear, to carry out more terrorist attacks, possibly even unconventional terrorism, as long as he can make it appear to be the work of a loose network of Muslim extremists." And thus Laurie Mylroie predicts Saddam Hussein will continue to attack American citizens and interests. At a minimum, we should expect attempted bombings and other attacks in the year 2001 and beyond. And so, the question about Saddam Hussein remains, what is to be done?

Book review, Study of Revenge by Laurie Mylroie (AEI Press, 2000)

More praise for Study of Revenge.

Does anyone know when he will reveal this info? The timing could be critical for the german elctions on the 22nd. A link from Iraq to Osama will undercut schroeder's resistance to an attack on iraq.

Good, I want schroeder to lose very badly. He has turned against the US in order to save his own sorry skin. Thats why an official speech by blair showing the link to Iraq will destroy his anti-US election campaign. He will have to chose between the terrorist and the USA.

Bush has kept his word up to now. Why did the silly DNC doubt his word? LOL. This is like Charlie Brown holding the football for Lucy, but she never trusts him enough to kick.

What a surprise to the dems- Blair is now part of the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy!

Regarding Blair, Clinton and Bush: I read something the other day about this. Blair liked Clinton because they were both on the left and because they agreed about quite a few things. But he said he prefers Bush because he knows he can trust him when he says something. I guess they have grown quite close. They are also both Christians. I would guess that Blair has found a part of his soul that he lost when Clinton was in office. That, of course, is just speculation on my part.

Don't forget about the SILLY people right here on this forum.

Thank you. Always watch your back.

About time others started to speak up about this fact. I thought I was the voice of one just crying in the wilderness.

After the trash-mouthing coming from Schroeder, I doubt if President Bush cares one bit if he loses his election. He had a chance to stand tall for what is right and he chose not to. Also, Stoiber is much more conservative and would be a much better match for W. Stoiber is now trashing Schroeder for his anti-America talk. Hehehehe..

As it did after Pearl Harbor, so, now, we in the United States have re-engaged with the world in retaliatory mode. We will not be denied the right to feel secure on this planet and anyone, nation or individual, who gets in the way of that security is dog sh-t at the end of the day! We do not ask for your blessing or your understanding of our exercise, just stay out of the propwash and hold your ears. Those who oppose the world's current 'owners' will become dispossesed of whatever small corner of the globe they cling to. There is no legal war, only legal title after victory. There is no good in bloodshed but there cannot be peace without it. We in this time must decide who will rule...America and her democraticaly inspired constitutional republic or the true tyrants of Islamic dictatorships and the socialist theocracies of madmen dressed in holy garb. As it was in 1941, America will surely seem capriecious and brutal to the timid world of the cowardly appeasors and will surely commit unspeakable cruelty against the targeted foe. However, like 1945, after the wars' end we will disengage, sheath our swords and await the next wave of opposition. If we do this battle proud the wait will be long enough to allow the generations ease in which to ponder our freedoms and the cost of providing them. May they remain free inspite of their self-loathing.

"While Blair isn't great, he is being really helpful on Iraq."

Have you forgotten his help concerning al Qaeda? I disagree. Blair IS and has been great. He's a loyal friend and he deserves tremendous gratitude.

Here is the sad thing. I would take Saddam over the Emir of kuwait or the Saudi Royal family. They are all immoral thugs. Saddam actually allows religious pluralism, mainly because he fears the fundamentalist wack jobs from Saudi Arabia trying to take his power away. Damn oil anyways. If we ever found the holy grail of cheap energy, these folks would be back to painting up their camels for Friday dates.

"I do wonder why President George W. Bush didn't ever mention a specific link between Saddam and UBL. Maybe he was waiting for the right time to play the card?"

Because so far there hasnt been a need for it.

At home he has the support of the American people....so he hasnt needed to make the connection. At the UN he simply needed to point out their own decisions on Iraq and throw those decisions in their face.

Blair probably needs to make the case more than anyone else...nice of GW to let him pull the rabbit out of our hat.

Schroeder is toast...Germany is not relevent[sp?] in this fight anyway. Most of Europe [British withstanding] is nothing more than window dressing for what we want to do...

Kinda like a hotel laundry service...We'll call on them when they are needed.

Agreed. It has been fun to watch this play out since the President's speech at the U.N. - it's like a bunch of scattered match box cars suddenly lining up on the same road. Amazing what truth, strength and integrity can do. They're all walking around in a daze saying, "Wow..this isn't clinton, is it? This guy means what he says."

"Wow..this isn't clinton, is it? This guy means what he says."

December, 1998, Clinton wasted 444 cruise missiles on Iraq--to delay Impeachment.

Our congressman called me that night--he and others were prepared to protest if Clinton delayed one more day.

For Clinton, Iraq was a distraction from his personal scandal.

For Bush, Iraq is indeed part of the Axis of Evil--and will be turned inside out.

Yet Clinton was the Rhodes Scholar, and Newsweek's Jonathan Alter just questioned Bush's I.Q.

Bush lacked "gravitas".

(Yet it was Clinton cracking wise to Letterman about "just blowing" with friends.)

Bush is leading--the world.

And will make history.

(Clinton was in the pantry with a bimbo, hiding from history.)

The Senate's pet dwarf is going to fall off his booster chair.

The Wicked Witch of Chappaqua will me-elt.

Let's roll.
