Volunteers needed for NC GOP booth at NC State Fair!

GOP-Pat is organizing people to volunteer at the NC GOP booth at the State Fair, which runs October 18th - October 27th.

I am planning to be there with ncweaver for the morning slot (9 am- 12 noon) on October 18th.

However, GOP-Pat says she is looking for volunteers for ALL of the following time slots:

9 am-12pm - Every day
12 pm-3 pm - Oct. 18, 20, 24, 25, 26 and 27
3 pm-6 pm - Oct. 20, 21, 22, 25, 26 and 27
6 pm-9 pm - Oct. 18, 19, 20, 26 and 27

GOP-Pat also said:

"None of the morning slots have been filled yet.
We welcome anyone who wants to be there from 9 to 12---any of the ten days. We need 30 bodies for that time slot.
If someone can be there more than once, that would be great and less bodies needed.
As I've said before, we would like to have at least 3 per day in each time slot. I have lots of names but have not set schedules yet, so let me know which one(s) you want.
I'll be calling volunteers later this week to get a firm date, so at the moment, you can take your pick.
Just let me know ASAP before I begin scheduling, possibly Wednesday."

On a previous thread, it was suggested to me by jern that we should help out the GOP by volunteering.
I admit that I may have taken his advice the wrong way at first, but now agree that it's a good idea.
I hope to see some of you on Saturday Oct. 18th. If we get a good response, I might also come the following Saturday.

Folks, October 18th is over a month away.
Please consider coming out and giving the GOP a few hours of your time.

I was going to go meet you guys a Saturday or so back, but couldn't make it, so maybe we'll get a chance to meet at the Fair, if not before. I'll be out there every day from noon until 9:00 PM. Send me Freep Mail with your name and telephone number, so I'll know who you are. (smiling) I need the info to put on my "sign up" sheet. Thank you all for participating. I've volunteered lots of hours each election year, so can attest to the fact that it's lots of fun and the excitement is contagious. Let's make this the best year ever!!!

Everybody, send me Freep Mail as I asked Howlin to do, with your name, telephone number and times you want to be there. Forgot to mention that in my last response. Didn't mean for just Howlin to do it. I might have to get in touch with you, about the schedule. We MUST have people there at all times and not everyone at once, so if we get too many in one time slot, we may need to re-arrange schedules, if that's possible. It takes a lot of time to organize/schedule something like this, so we need to get started since it's only a month away, therefore, the sooner you can let me know, the better.

I think the 18th is Friday...I'm guessing you mean Sat. Oct 19. Anyway, I will Freepmail GOP-Pat and sign up now!

I've volunteered for the last 2 years and it's fun. The Rats usually have a booth in the same bldg. and we compete to see if we can (and usually do) have more people wearing our stickers. In 2000 we had people wearing Bush stickers everywhere and saw very few Gore. You could tell the Dems were MAD. I even had one come up to me and challenge me on why Gore was better. It was interesting. It's amazing how you can usually tell by looking at someone if they are R or D. You know the Dem look...either "earthy", or generally mad at the world, or "I'm so much smarter than your kind" look.

It's better if you can work in the mornings-that building can get really hot and uncomfortable in the afternoon!

Sorry I missed this thread yesterday-guess I need to check my "new posts to you" more often.

Thank you guys. I need some more people for Saturday and Sunday, the 26th AND the 27th--all time slots, so if you can come on the 27th OR the 26th, that would be great. Just let me know as soon as you can. Scheduling 3 people, 4 times per day, times 10 days, gets a little hard, so the sooner I can know, the better. Of course, if there are more than 3 at any one time, that's okay too, just so long as we have someone at the booth all day. Not sure if I said so or not, but I'll be there all 12 hours the first day and then from 12 to 9, the other 9 days, so I can get by with just 2 for each of those time slots. Most evenings are filled already, but for some reason, no one seems to want mornings and weekends. Thank you again for taking the morning slots.
