I do need you. Just got lucky this time!
BTW I added key words "Medea" and "Medea Benjamin" to the stories I found.
You asked the question first - did her parents name her Medea, or did she adopt it? Either way, very creepy.

Maybe I am the one still jaded in the goodness of the American people....

Bush was not in front of the UN General Assembly asking for no stinking inspections! Somebody here has to have the link to the speech. It's the stupid liberals and media who think this is about readmitting the inspectors.

P.S. Even odds she's using the money she raised for Afghan families to pay for her junkets of late.

Listen .. I don't disgree with what you said and yes they looked like fools
My concern is only with security
Now does that mean I want folks to be striped search and have their toe nail clipper taken away ..
the answer to that is NO!!
I just want some folks to do their job ..

Ok I can walk into any place I want with a bed sheet strapped to my body....I dont do this but I guess if I want to be a Jerk I would ...I found the events today to be a plus on our side and Rummys reaction to be more than grand...

P.S. Even odds she's using the money she raised for Afghan families to pay for her junkets of late. P.S. Even odds Medea has discovered that she will get more exposure and income from this sort of thing than she did running for the Senate as a Green Party candidate. Look for Donahue to get a new co-host to boost his sagging ratings, or MSNBC to hire yet one more liberal pundit, very soon.

Your memory is accurate. Except to state inspectors as one of the UN resolutions - among many - that Saddam has broken, the president didn't mention them.
Immediate disarmament to prevent destruction is not in any way equivilant to calling for unconditional resumption of weapons inspectors - which he did NOT call for.
The time, and the OPTION for inspectors is past. Saddam has condemned himself. The UN is irrelevant.

"Somebody here has to have the link to the speech"We aim to please! President's Remarks to UN
"It's the stupid liberals and media who think this is about readmitting the inspectors"
No, they want the PUBLIC to think this is about readmitting inspectors, in order to counter the power of the president's kick @ss speech to the UN. It's a propaganda ploy.

LOL .. you just want to argue with me don't you
Spin this anyway you want .. But when the Secretary of Defense is in the room .. yes I do expect security to do their job .. because call me crazy .. but there are folks out there that would like to see him dead
I myself would like him to keep breathing until he reaches a rip old age of 100 or so
Now if you want to go to McDonald with a sheet wrapped around you then GO FOR IT

would you prefer closed hearings?I'd prefer no one being able to get within reach of SOD Rumsfeld. They can be a few rows back, hollering, but not next to Rummy!
Maybe I've read too much about the terrorists. They would love this media moment, and plenty of non-metallic lethal weapons can be hidden on a person.
Much of what these terrorists will do in the name of jihad shouldn't be repeated....children beheaded, heads sent back to their parents in a hatbox, etc.. Their MO includes going after the families of political leaders... they are here. Vigilance, common sense is all we want from the security detail, the press, the pols (heh).

Who got near rummy anyway today???

I really am stunned by this conversation and where it has been.... You are stunned that I expect people to do their job??
Or is it that you just want to pick an argument??

Who got near rummy today but a a loser pacifist...Is every "loser pacifist" known to security and, if so, do they get special privileges? I'm confused by your reaction.

I wish I remembered those old Medea Benjamin threads about her blatant anti-American group "Global Exchange" trying to convert Afghans into the complainers and victims of America she wishes they were. I don't know about that but just found some old website for her candidacy for the US Senate running on the Green Party! I'm sure she's very popular in CA, actually.
< snip >
San Francisco Magazine has named Medea Benjamin one of the most powerful people in the Bay Area because of her ability to organize, mobilize and effect change. Her power is not based on wealth or used for self-aggrandizement. It is based on wide experience, long-term commitment and a deep, personal engagement with the struggles she knows are vital to human survival, dignity and freedom. Her championship of workers' rights and racial equity has won her the endorsement of many Latino leaders and the AFL-CIO. Her spirit, strength, experience and leadership ability make her an excellent representative. Join the people of the State of California and the struggle to save democracy. Elect Medea Benjamin as your U.S. Senator.

Thanks for your post and for clarifying all that!
To: Howlin; Miss Marple
Thank you for the ping Howlin and the thread. I didn't get to bed till 4:40 this morning so overslept and missed it. I hope they show it again.
I love Rummy and am so proud of him. We are so lucky to have President Bush and his fantastic team. I can just imagine the dems wondering how he does it, being a real mans man . In fact all of them , Bush , Cheney and Rummy make the dems entire population look like bugs under rocks. LOL
