RAMALLAH, West Bank (CNN) -- The Israeli army Friday began demolishing a connecting bridge between Yasser Arafat's office and another building in his Ramallah compound. Palestinian officials feared it could cause the collapse of the building housing their president.

"The situation is very grave and serious," said Nabil abu Rudeineh, an Arafat aide inside Arafat's office. "We urge the United States to interfere immediately to stop this catastrophe."

I'm thinking of that "terrorism center" that they razed a couple months ago; the building looked to be the size of a big-city convention center, and appeared to be made out of solid concrete.
