Its a frightening scenario. Let's hope it remains fiction, but if those who insist there's no justification whatsoever for effecting "regime change" in Iraq have it there way on the grounds Saddam can be "deterred" just like the Soviets were, one day we will be placed in a situation where we can't defend our homeland or our allies. You don't really need all the evidence that's been presented to date to prove Saddam has megalomanical ambitions and no scruples about taking innocent lives with him. He raped and plundered Kuwait a decade ago. Its child's play compared to what he could do to America if the pro-Saddam Left has its way. America simply will not survive. Eugene Volokh's hypothetical warning is a very real wake-up call to Americans to finish the job.
