Torricelli Must Be Prosecuted to the Fullest Extent of the Law
Judicial Watch Will Pursue the Complaints It Already Has Pending Against the Disgraced New Jersey Senator
(Washington, DC) Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, said today that it rejoices in the resignation from the election race of the corrupt Senator from the State of New Jersey, Robert The Torch Torricelli . Senator Torricellis withdrawal from the election comes amid growing criticism of Torricelli over ethics violations for bribery and other criminal acts.
Judicial Watch has ethics and other complaints pending against Senator Torricelli, and will pursue those investigations vigorously in order to uncover all of the facts surrounding Torricellis misdeeds.
Senator Torricelli is a national disgrace. He should not be allowed to avoid punishment by simply cutting and running. Torricelli may be able to run, but he cannot hide from Judicial Watch, stated Judicial Watch Chairman and General Counsel Larry Klayman.

" Slow beginning In 1995, Mr. Klayman said that his group -- himself, an associate and some volunteer attorneys -- collected less than $ 10,000 in donations, with no single check larger than $ 1,500. In 1996 -- the year his Freedom of Information Act suit against the Department of Commerce forced elusive fund-raiser John Huang to come out of hiding and sit for a deposition eight days before the presidential election -- donations rose to $ 68,000.
Then came the Year of Lewinsky, the piece de resistance of American scandal. Mr. Klayman, well positioned to exploit it, became a ubiquitous Clinton critic on cable television talk shows. In June 1998, a conservative foundation funded by anti-Clinton billionaire Richard Mellon Scaife revealed that it had given Judicial Watch $ 550,000. Mr. Klayman characterized the grant as "a minority of our support," which, if true, indicated that the fund-raising ads he'd begun running on television and in three conservative weekly magazines were doing well."
I suspect the size of the target pretty much dictates JW's stamina. Donata is yesterday's news. So is Clinton. Osama could well figure in Larry's FUTURE plans. Only time and media attention will tell.
Thanks, Howlin, for your bookmarks. I lifted the quotes from there.

You should read his 2000 990; he took in almost 26 million and only spent 3 million in legal fees.

I think Jim Baker or Jimmy Swaggart should've been on there in place of Jan Crouch. Of course the montage may only include hucksters that didn't get caught red-handed and/or go to jail. ;)

Federal government only prosecutes those it chooses to prosecute. Prosecutorial discretion. So what alternative is there to outfits like Judicial Watch when the government doesn't prosecute?

The difference between the charlatans of the old days and the current crop seems to be a lack of imagination. A steak dinner, bottle of whiskey and a quick nap with the local beauty was enough to satisfy some.
There is little to distinguish Torricelli, Clinton and Klayman. Each of them has an ego which can only be satisfied by constant attention and grandiose claims.

This isn't a case; it's a press release.
And I dare say from what I have seen of your postings, you could have written a better press release and made a heck of a lot better case.

Senator Torricellis withdrawal from the election comes amid growing criticism of Torricelli over ethics violations for bribery and other criminal acts. Will the justice department go after this socialist brother like they do Enron, Worldcom or corporate criminals? Senator Clinton, what did you know and when did you know it?
If Torricelli was a Republican he would be in jail today.
Are we considering filing a class action against this Senator or STATE? Is there any way to return the money to the people?
The real question: is being a Democratic Party politician giving people the impression that they are above the law?

I hope the DOJ and IRS nail the son of a so and do for tax fraud and he gets 20 years behind bars. That will take care of all the 20 years he spent screwing the public.I don't like Klayman either but this sounds a bit harsh, doesn't it?

Remember the good old days of Wilbur Mills? Now those guys knew how to go out in style, not whimpering like the Torch did today. :-)
