Democrat Leadership Should Control Rank-And-File Saddam Apologists

WASHINGTON, Sep. 30— House Republican Conference Chairman J.C. Watts, Jr. (R-Okla.) issued the following statement on the mission to Baghdad by Congressmen David Bonior (D-Mich.), Jim McDermott (D-Wash.) and Mike Thompson (D-Calif.):

“It’s one thing to have a civil discourse on the merits of a preemptive strike or war. It’s another to fly to Iraq and take the word of a tyrant over the American president and the American people.

“At a time when America is fighting a war on terror, talk like this only helps enemies of freedom.

“Instead of lobbying for Saddam, these guys ought to come home and lobby Senate Democrats who are blocking important priorities for Americans like a Department of Homeland Security, prescription drug coverage and pension security.

“Three Democrat members of Congress in Iraq defending Saddam Hussein ought to warrant a reprimand from Minority Leader Gephardt. Surely they do not speak for the Democratic Caucus. Or do they?”

Is there any way we can keep them over there 'til the bombs start falling?

I'm afraid that I'd advise the good Congressman to let The First Amemdment have it's full effect.

As in "give 'em enough rope" (=freedom to speak what they REALLY think/feel).
If the DemocRATS simply step up to the camera like Gore, Daschle and McDermott have done
in the past week...hello Republican Senate and House in January.

Folks, a reprimand isn't the right thing to do to these three. The proper punishment for their actions is expulsion from the House of Representatives, followed by prosecution under 18 USC CHP 45 Sec 953.

The Logan Act (1798)

It is codified in 18 U.S.C. Sec. 953

Sec. 953. Private correspondence with foreign governments
Any citizen of the United States, wherever he may be, who, without authority of the United States, directly or indirectly commences or carries on any correspondence or intercourse with any foreign government or any officer or agent thereof, with intent to influence the measures or conduct of any foreign government or of any officer or agent thereof, in relation to any disputes or controversies with the United States, or to defeat the measures of the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both. This section shall not abridge the right of a citizen to apply, himself or his agent, to any foreign government or the agents thereof for redress of any injury which he may have sustained from such government or any of its agents or subjects.

They're DIMocRATS. What makes you think they care about the law?*
Gephardt doesn't, and I'd bet they don't even get a reprimand.

Oh, and btw, I agree. They should kick them out.

* Here's a good example of what I'm talking about regarding the law:

UPDATE - New Jersey Supreme Court agrees
to take Torricelli successor case directly

The law says that a candidate can't be taken off the ballet after 51 days before
the election. But they're tryin' to anyway. If this SCONJ doesn't throw it out,
SCOTUS shall. Another Florida simply because Torricelli got way behind in the
polls and was doomed to lose, and the DIMocRATS will do ANYTHING to try
to keep the Senate Obstructed.

If this doesn't wake up every last Republican to go out and vote, nothing will. This time they are trying to steal the leadership of the Senate.

We need to concentrate on ousting Johnson and Carnahan big time and helping Hutchinson on AR! At least the RATs are insuring Cornyn is going to be the next Senator from Texas!

Bump for JC! He'd make a fine governor, don't you think? (^:

Historically, black people are conservative. They don't all think alike but they do tend to vote alike. They are the keepers of the flame of family values. Blacks believe in family, church, and community. It was only when they vested their beliefs in the Democratic party and allowed government to control their lives that they encountered deepening poverty, decaying families and a sick welfare system that penalizes women for wanting to marry the father of their children and mothers for saving money.

Republican values are in line with African-American values. One of my primary goals in Congress is to communicate Republican policies and values to the African-American community and to all people- red, yellow, brown, black, white, male and female. I am convinced that when African-Americans hear our story they will gravitate toward the Republican party.

There is room for several voices in the African-American community. I think it's good for all people to have options in their party and their representation. The media tends to overplay some of the louder voices, but in the long run, the voices of reason will prevail.
JC Watts.

Actually, I disagree with J.C. on this one. I DON'T think the Democrat leadership should do ANYTHING to control the Saddam-lovers. I think they should actually ENCOURAGE the likes of Bonior and McDermott to speak their true convictions and get it all out in the open...

Nothing J.C. can say will matter but it sure is a great soundbite for folks here in the 4th to remind them a vote for Roberts is a vote for McDermott!

Should help Tom Cole in his bid to win the 4th District!
