The hunt for the D.C. area's Psycho Sniper took two huge leaps forward yesterday, as sources revealed detectives have a video that may hold the maniacal mass murderer's face - and officials released a composite picture of a white box truck believed to be the cold-blooded killer's ride. A surveillance tape reportedly caught a suspicious person during Wednesday evening's attack on a 53-year-old engineer, who was killed in Manassas, Va., by the mystery gunman who police say has killed eight and wounded two in his spree.

I figure that the accomplice is a woman, a wife or girlfriend under his control.

Distinct possibility!

So far the weekends have been quiet.

I've been thinking on that. Why are Saturday and Sunday (thus far) been non killing days. Could the shooter be someone that honors both G-d's Commandment to keep the Sabbath holy, and Sunday, the traditional day of worship for Christians?

Since tomorrow is a federal holiday - Columbus Day - I predict tomorrow will be quiet too.

Somehow, I doubt that the Beltway Basketcase, thinks so highly of the feds that the shooter will not mar their 'holiday'.

There's a lot in this that appears similar to disinformation tactics. What comes immediately to the eye is the ability to note "a small dent in the rear bumper" but not to be able to describe the writing on the side of the truck -- or even what color it is (black or purple).

Some things certainly don't appear to add up in this.
Agreed and Agreed! This investigation oozes intrigue...

What is the "dialog" between LE and the perp/s that is going on here?

You gotta be kidding! Is that the profile of the truck? A large step van? Those things run at a husky 40 mph. I heard it was a minivan with ladder racks.

"When they finally catch Moore and his white book van I suggest we hold a national lottery to see who gets to disembowel this toad."

Now that would be one heck of a lot of disembowelling!

Manson murders, Bonnie and Clyde. There are many occasions when two or more people go on killing sprees together. It usualy is a young male with a female follower.

I don't know much about Bonnie and Clyde, but I always thought that their motivation was to make money from robberies. There are groups of people who have done tremendous violence while working together to steal from others, but that is a different case. The Maryland sniper is not working on a profit motive.

The Manson situation could be similar to this one. A very charismatic psycho could influence others, likely including women, to do these kinds of killings in the hope of inciting a situation that he believes would allow him to rule the world.

The Henry Lee Lucas killings are another example of a serial killer working with an accomplice. He wasn't in it for profit but was just a psychopathic killer. He worked with the guy who killed Adam Walsh.

However, none of these groups used the tactics that we see here. Maybe these murders represent a new tactic for a new group of psychos. Maybe they are are an Al-Qaeda operation. At this point, we simply don't have the data to draw any real conclusions.

A large step van?

The truck in the picture is not a stepvan. Also, it could probably do 80 MPH. I don't think it would be easy to conceal, though, unless there is a warehouse nearby to drive it into.

"Dear Policeman, I am God"

There was a professor of criminology named Fox who was on with Don Wade and Roma (WLS-AM, 890, Chicago) the other day who said that "Dear police" showed that the shooter had respect for the police. I was surprised that Roma, with her literary experience*, didn't laugh the guy to scorn for his obvious lack of it. "Dear police" indicated snide, taunting contempt, not respect.

*Why I refer to literary experience is that it is the great writers of fiction who have always been the most able psychologists throughout the ages, leaving such as Freud, Jung, Maslow, Skinner, and (especially) Fox simply writhing in their dust.

I saw a clip of his movie and in it, he received a "sniper" rifle after opening up a bank account. He should definitely be on the short list of suspects.

While I thought that no muslim would say "I am God", Plaster thinks that it is possible that the killer's translation is flawed, and that he meant to say "I am with God".

That probably rules out a Japanese person, beacause the translation would have read something like "The projectile of firing which generously encompasses in several shooting, being together." :-)

I talked to a guy who's father was hired by Bonnie and Clyde when they were hiding out on some island. He would row out and deliver food and supplies.
The father's clearest memory was that Bonnie was a vicious psycho.
