David Wiggins attended West Point and York Medical College. During Operation Desert Storm he left the Army as a conscientious objector

If you attend West POint, you are supposed to give back a few years in the service in return for your education.

And I wonder about "york medical college. Does that mean York in the UK? Or New York? I didn't find him on a list of physicians on several places I searched, but that means he's not a member of their associations. If there is a state mentioned, I can look him up in the AMA database

Sounds like he got a free education and ran. They had him on the list for Desert Storm, so either he graduated later than Desert Storm or he got his MD and decided to chicken out during desert storm.

There is a Hull York Medical school in the UK. They give an MB BS degree, which is a six year course starting after O levels (if I remember correctly).

Still doesn't make sense, unless he is hiding his education.

Did the Army pay for his medical education? I can't find him listed on the web for M.D.'s. If he was any good, he would be a Major, not a mere Captain in the medical corp. And how come he was in the Reserves? He would have owed them 6 years...

I was invited to respond to this forum by e-mail. Thankyou. As I quickly survey the response, I see a lot of anger and violence. I realize violence is programmed into the human genome and some people are not receptive to logical debate, but only emotional outburst and irrational behavior. It has been said that he who lives by the sword wil die by the sword and I do not begrudge anyone that fate if that is what they choose. At a minimum, it will remove your overly violent genes from the gene pool. Violence begets violence - is this our fate? Mutually ASSURED destruction? I hope not, and am working toward that end. I am not religious, but I would ask any of you who claim to be christians to review the Sermon on the Mount for confirmation of my sentiments. To those who called me a traitor, etc. I would remind them that the Constitution requires Congress to declare war. Sure it never happens, so most wars the US fights are UNCONSTITUTIONAL. Officers, please review your oath of office.

But all this is really beside the point. If you believe the cause is just - by all means go at it. Similarly, I hope you would discourage anyone from killing and destroying when they believe it is wrong. If that were to occur, you would have no enemy (assuming you are always morally right ;-) ) I won't respond anymore here - time is too precious to waste - but thanks for the invite and I wish you all inner peace.

Agree! I would like to see the whorebait in front of a court martial but the bastard having a less than honorable discharge works quite well for me. I wonder how someone can go through basic training and not realize that the training does not enable them to sing kumbaya? And to graduate from West Point ignorant of this fact is beyond absurd. I do hope he was billed for his education he stole from us taxpayers.
