The Pentagon would not be involved for a home-grown sniper, IMHO.

I wonder whether posse comitatus would allow it.

Has anyone confirmed that the Pentagon will be involved or is this just gossip from the media. Just curious.

I agree. The involvement by the Pentagon is a clear indication of where this is all going.

3. Lastly, when we do find the sniper, I don't think we should be using force to stop him. I believe we should just send inspectors over to his house and make sure he doesn't have any bullets for his gun. Because THEN we would be safe right? INSPECTIONS, NOT FORCE! INSPECTIONS, NOT FORCE!

No, no, you're missing a step -- first, we contact a third party -- his defense attorney, perhaps, and spend as much time as possible working on a deal while he fills the court with page after page of useless appeal that ties them up in red tape. :-)

Rita Cosby just said that LEO 'have about 10 individuals under surveillance 24 hours a day...'

hmm...I would think that these 10 should be ruled out after last night, unless they followed one to the Home Depot... huh?

Thanks. I'm as happy to eliminate pieces of the puzzle as acquire them. My head's about to go *pop*.

Oh, I agree. My comments were directed at the changing tone from the press. If my suspicions are correct, we need to get our ducks in a row, and that means buying some time. The media's getting too impatient with Moose, too fast. And his propensity to ramble on offers opportunity for inadvertant slips.

I'll admit I don't know everything about today's military, but that sure as heck suggests sniper training of *some sort*, urban ops, the more I think about it.

I know what you mean. Makes it less like a drive-by shooting or even a mob hit. But, I don't know anything about sniper training.

Oh, there's no doubt in my head that the phrase "on message" means nothing to these guys right now, they're all OVER the map.

I wonder if parks have any significance?

Because they provide cover?

Certainly makes you wonder. And I'm NOT one of those who were leaning towards the ME terrorists theory. I'm getting ready for a new Crayola alert. Something's very wrong.

Attached (I think, I am not good with adding attachments) is a link from a CNN story today, that tells about the Pentagon involvement.

But wasn't he tried under Oklahoma law? The case was in Denver because of change of venue. I'm asking, because I don't know the answer. But I think it was the State of Oklahoma against Timothy McVeigh.

No I am quite sure he was tried under Federal courts. It's a big issue, because Terry Nichols did not get the death penalty and the Okies want him bad.

I'm guessing perhaps different snipers with the gun being passed in a relay type scenario.

This is an interesting scenario. If we don't know who shot whom, does that make it easier or more difficult to charge/ prosecute them?
