School Supports Satanist Club

School Supports Satanist Club

Based on Anton LeVey's Satanic Bible

In Defense of the Faith 10/2/2002 Jack Kinsella

A group of students in San Mateo, California formed an on-campus club dedicated to the First Church of Satan founded by Anton LeVey.

Calling themselves The Satanic Thought Society, co-president of the club James Doolittle admits he originally started the club with his friend Matt Heeney to "rile things up a bit."

But now that the two juniors have studied the teachings of Anton LaVey, founder of the Church of Satan, they say Satanism helps people to express themselves. "Its (Satanism's) purpose is to turn man back into a natural state and not have him corrupted by religion," Doolittle said.

The club does not worship the devil, the boy said, as some may think.

In a flier posted around the school, the club says its goal is to divide church from state completely.

According to the San Mateo Times, who apparently assumed this boy knew what he was talking about, 'LaVey started the Church of Satan in 1966 under the theory that Satan is not a supernatural being, but rather a symbol of defiance and rebellion against a conformist, God-fearing society'.

At the club's first meeting on Wednesday during the school's lunch hour approximately 35 students attended.

News of the Satanist Club's formation, together with the time and place of the meeting was announced on the school's loudspeaker.

Principal Jacqueline McEvoy sent an e-mail to 300 parents claiming that under the federal Equal Access Act for Secondary Schools, the school must allow this club to exist.

McEvoy wrote that this law requires that schools allow a limited open forum for clubs.

She also said the students in the club are not devil worshipers and they will not be performing rituals.

That's a relief. It would be awful if the school allowed a human sacrifice in the school cafeteria.

This guardian of the minds of America's young explained to the dumbfounded parents that, "These young men are really interested in the philosophical teachings of alternative religions," she said.

I was particularly interested in the fact McEvoy noted that one 'Father Harold Snider of Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church in Burlingame' told her the First Amendment is behind these students.

Nice touch. Get a legal opinion from a religious figure and it all looks kosher. Sorta.

This is wrong on so many different levels that it's hard to know where to start.

Let's first note that this is a case of a school sanctioning a legal church of a legal religion.

Did I say sanctioning? McEvoy's email appears to be ENDORSING it. It's formation was announced on the school loudspeaker. It was held in the school cafeteria. Where is the ACLU?

It is obvious by now that the only religion that is illegal in the United States is Christianity.

The Bible describes the global religion of antichrist in Revelation 13:11, describing the religious 'beast' as having "two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon". The two horns represent a form of "christianity" but the words of the 'dragon' refers to Satan.

Bible Christianity is illegal, but Satanic worship in a federally-funded school gets barely a headline.

But there's another level as well. People send their kids to school to learn, not to be indoctrinated. Let's take a look at the representative of the angel of light, High Priest Anton LeVey.

Howard Stanton Levey came into this world via Cook County, Illinois in 1930, the son of Michael and Getrude Levey. He later changed his name to Anton Szandor LeVey.

He invented most of the material in the Satanic Bible, and stole the rest from his favorite books.

The "German" rituals in the Satanic Rituals are written in extremely poor, Anglicized German. They are uncredited adaptations of the short story 'The Hounds of Tindalos' by Frank Belknap Long and H.G. Wells' famous novel, 'The Island of Dr. Moreau'.

But that isn't what the kids at San Mateo High are being taught. You see, THAT would be educating them. Instead, they are being told they are exploring an 'alternate religion'.

Levey's entire public life is a myth.

His claims to having known Marilyn Monroe, having been exposed to the dark side of humanity while serving as a police photographer in San Francisco, his degree in criminology - all documented myth.

The First Church of Satan's headquarters, 6114 California Street (the famous 'black' house) was reputed to be an old San Francisco brothel filled with mysterious secret passages, trap doors and hidden rooms.

It was his parent's home. Levey lived there for a while until his Satan scam started paying off and he bought it from them in 1971.

The ACLU decries the Bible as 'myth' and it is on those grounds that they fight tooth and nail to keep any mention of the Bible out of the public school system.

For that reason, the 'myth' of Creation cannot be taught, but the 'theory' of evolution is taught as fact.

But the ridiculously transparent 'religious' teachings of a guy with a pointy beard and a scary sounding name whose entire life was a myth (a recent one, at that - LeVey died in 1997) gets the full legal protection of whatever law the school can dig up to permit it.

We've heard the flap concerning teaching the Koran to kids while denying them equal access to Scripture for study. There were debates, complete with pronouncements from 'respected Islamic scholars'.

The Church of Satan has no 'scholars'. It was made up in its entirety by Anton Szandor LeVey a.k.a. Howard Stanton Levey.

What this reveals isn't so much the hypocrisy of the humanist system, although it is. It isn't so much that kids are going to be worshipping Satan disguised as an educational experience. A publicly funded educational experience.

It is, in the final analysis, the same 'angel of light' -- the same spirit that gives power to the rest of the world religious system. Buddah, Allah, Tao, Self, humanism, animism -- all the same spirit.

If God is Spirit, and the Bible is true, and there are spiritual forces that compete with God, then they are not the same Spirit as God.

Things -- even spiritual things -- that are different are not the same.

"And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world." (1 John 4:3)

I believe the Bible is true. It clearly distinguishes between 'Spirit' and 'spiritual' sources.

If schools endorse teaching a form of spirituality that denies Bible Christianity, they are already teaching Satanism in some form. This is just a bit more obvious than most.

What it really reveals is the depth of hatred the world has for Jesus Christ.

Did you ever notice what happens in a conversation with non Christians about religion? You can enjoy a stimulating and friendly discussion of the various religious systems, talk about Allah, Buddah, even Satanism, -- and it stays civil. You can even mention 'God'-- as long as you aren't too specific -- and it stays civil.

You can discuss the Bible as literature with some non-Christians without worrying too much.

BUT -- mention Jesus Christ and the room polarizes. Nobody is neutral.

What was a friendly discussion of various religious perspectives immediately becomes a debate, then an argument -- it never turns out well. You've been there.

Satan is terrified of Jesus. The world system, and all those who don't belong to Jesus, belong to Satan, by default. Consequently, bringing the Name of Jesus into a conversation about religion terrifies the lost.

Anton LeVey is dead and reaping his reward. So, too, is Mohammed, Zoroaster, Buddah, etc., but Jesus is alive! Nobody is scared of a dead spirit. But a living Jesus is a different story.

"Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." (Acts 4:12).

It is the Power of that Name that makes it so devisive, because, unlike the rest, the Name of Jesus IS Power.

The fact that a high school in California would endorse studying the rantings of Anton LeVey as an 'alternative religion' is but one more evidence that we are living in the last days.

And that Jesus is alive. And coming soon.

This is sick. Experience shows that a lot of Satanists start out in a laughing sort of way, not really believing in what they are doing, and then they find that they are in for a lot more than they bargained for.

Inviting Satan to come in is a very, very dumb, self-destructive, and ultimately evil thing to do.

Discussion of Jesus can certainly polarize a room. I've even been told, by a friend nonetheless, that even telling someone that I'm a Christian is 'preaching'.

Satanism is not a religion but an anti-religion.

Anton LeVay was a circus performer before he founded the Church of Satan in 1969. He is a showman, no more, no less. In fact, has anyone ever heard from him since the Satanism scare of the mid-1980s when he went on the Talk Show circuit?

This is quite frightening! seperation of Church and State, but the first amendment allows the "Satanic Thought Society." I'm quite confused by this.

hmmmm. I thought that the school could control the dissemination of certain "disruptive" informations while during school and on school grounds. Wouldn't this qualify?

Oh wait. This is Kalifornia, where christianity is outlawed, and "alternative religions" are embraced by all who conform.

These issues really test my nerve and my views on the first amendment.

The irony is that the son of the person credited with founding the Church of Satan, Anthony LaVey, denounced both his father and that religion. In fact, the boy changed his first name to Jess to hide the connection. Jess now belongs to an "fundamentalist" Christian organization.

This would appear to be one of those urban myths Christian fundamentalists spread.

I just attended the Billy Graham Crusade and got to counsel a 12 year old who became a Christian tonight.

I got "wet eyes" as I talked with him about how to receive Christ: admit that he had sinned, repent from it, believe that Jesus Christ died for him on the cross and rose from the grave, and to invite Jesus to come in and control his life through the Holy Spirit.

It was an AWESOME experience!!

Hmh... it does seem rather strange that a school would approve such a club. But non the less Christian, Satanic, Muslim or whatever you are by religion, it's not a problem to believe in what you believe. As long as you don't harm anybody or brake the law, a religion is something you need to survive, a man without faith(no matter what faith) isn't fully alive. But still I should say that getting too involved in anything is bad for your health, no matter if it's satanism, christianity, french fries or fizzy drinks:). If you know where to stop it's not a crime no matter how you look at it.
I just have to ask is there really someone who truly and deeply believes that God is a bright light, that for seven days created what we call the Universe. I my self believe(as I said it's too hard to live without faith) that there should be something like a guiding force, but I can't quite except the idea of God as described(even if not very detailed) in the Bible.

Apparently there is some debate about it. But some newspapers have credited him as the son.
