From the press conferences on the Washington area sniper case, I'd say he has handled it about as good as any police chief could. It's the media who are doing the silly act, not Chief Moose or the other top cops.
Our officials have to be judged on job performance, not race or ethnicity. If his people catch this perp, he will be the hero of the day.

I'm waiting for Chief Moose to start beginning his press conferences with knock-knock jokes.

From what you say it sounds like Montgomery County is a liberal hotbed to begin with. Why did you ever think they would hire some white right winger like that sherriff out in Arizona with the tent prison? If you dont like who they pick and it matters that much to you, why dont you move.
I am not about to critize Chief Moose. He's got a difficult job at the moment, and I havent seen anything in his job performance to make me think the less of him. You could bring J.Edgar Hoover back right now and he wouldnt be able to do any better. Finding one lone nut in a huge metropolitan area is not an easy task.

Flame?????
Has it become illegal or racist on FR to view the opinions of people that have doubts about Moose????
To answer my own question, if one reads other threads here concerning Moose, the answer is yes.

Moose is qualified to be an affirmative action police chief. He is a token and that is what he does best. Does he impress you? Have you seen his fantastic leadership skills? Is he a take charge kind of guy who makes you feel like he knows exactly what he is doing? Like I said, he is an affirmative action token.
Guys like this make everyone, including other blacks, see a black guy in a position of responsibility as not having any real cvapability but simply being the token black. It is unfortunate becasue there are so many solid black folks out there but they now must also bear the burden of being seen as a racial token, selected solely because of their race and maintained in place for exactly the same reason.
My view is that Moose has been left in charge because the authorities know that the killer is also a black guy and don't want to lose contact by changing the guy in charge. If so, wait 'til you hear the excuses the lefties will make to justify the deaths of 10 innocent people. Imagine if the killer is a black 16 year old!

Last summer, Moose was also quoted as saying "We don't need a lot of research and data to prove whether there's race-based policing...
Collect evidence? In police work? Perish the thought!

Montgomery County Council was terrified of the NAACP allegations of police bias (very bad press), and they were equally terrified of 3 years of ongoing harassment from the U.S. DOJ (who found no evidence of racial bias in the department). Gee, I wonder WHO was running the DOJ then???

PMS MSNBC is really slamming the MOOSE. Its hard to believe that the leftie news show is criticizing one of their posters boys for cop diversity!
