Apparently they are caught but the lamestream press are not as gleeful as they would be if they were "Timothy McVeigh Turner-Diaries-Militia" types. Even though one of the suspects is clearly a Muslim based on his name alone, not a single mention of the fact that he is a Muslim has been made on any sort of media so far as I can tell. I think the race of the suspects is a factor in the media downplaying too. I can tell you that many of these liberal mainstream types are deeply depressed this morning that they couldn't pin this on any right-wing types.

Coverage on MSNBC has quoted this morning from a Seattle Times article I posted earlier on Free Republic Link in which persons interviewed by that paper indicated the snipers had expressed sympathy for the 9/11 hijackers.

The elder sniper had also provided security for a Million Man March (see details in the article in the above link).

NPR was talking to some guy this morning who insisted on using the "Williams" last name instead of Mohammed. The spin has already started in some circles.

You're right. A white, right-wing, militia, Timothy McVeigh type would have been just lovely for the left-wing media types. They and their Dim cohorts could have demagogued against the Pubbies all the way to November 5th.

They may still try, but their voices will be muted because these guys are black (gotta be PC in handling race) and their motive may be (at least marginally) related to 9/11. If it turns out these guys were somehow connected to an organized terror group, the Dims will still try to pin the deaths on Bush for not providing adequate homeland security.

It will be very interesting to observe the media spin in this case.

Sounds like he might have been a prison convert. The imams have been going in to prisons for years, recruiting Black men by feeding their hatred for 'whitey'. The Black Muslims look upon their religion as repudiating everything 'Western', and separating them completely from the white man. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
