I know this is not the biggest piece of news for the day, but I heard this live and could not let it pass unremarked upon.
Ronn Owens, a moderate Dem who generally supports the President, has the big-rating morning talk show on KGO 810 AM in San Francisco. He had the despicable Socialist Congressman (masquerading as a Democrat) Pete Stark on this morning. As I tuned in, I heard Ronn ask him about Iraq and the President. I was driving, but this is the gist of the conversation:
Ronn: (asks about Stark's opposition to the action against Saddam and Iraq - then mentions Stark's personal dislike of the President)
Stark: (pause) I don't dislike George ... uh ... Bush. I'm just not ... comfortable with him and his stance. He's a sweet boy... it's Cheney and Rumsfeld that worry me.
So, Fortney Stark is a Mo Dowd Democrat, eh?
It was incredibly smug and patronizing. What a creep.
I heard it. That was precisely when I turned to KCEA or whatever that FM 89.1 station is. I’d suggest doing the same if you are in its reception area. The music makes good background noise and doesn’t cause an ulcer.
Fortney has always been an embarrassment though, so making an asinine statement, or series of statements, is pretty normal.

Yes, he is, and obviously, I completely and totally disagree with him on that. He is far from a conservative, although the Bernie Ward/Ray bin Laden ("Ashcroft!") crowd think he's a right-wing nut.
I do have to give him props for changing his mind on the President, and saying so.
