Global warming causes 5 to 10% of Washington's apple crop to be frozen while still waiting to be picked. The last several nights temperatures have dipped from 4 to 6 degrees F.
This is uncharted territory that has not been experienced in recent history. No one knows what will happen to the remaining crop, if it can be picked and packed.
As one wag was heard to exclaim, "This global warming is the pitts."

One headline we'll never see:
"Wellstone and fellow passengers killed by pre-mature wing icing provoked by Global Warming"

Yikes. Any more global warming and we'll be overrun by glaciers.

The apples should have already been picked. Lived around orchards for 11 years in north central washington and end of September beginning of October is harvest time. This doesn't sound right. For a couple of years many orchardists have left fruit on the trees because market prices were so low. Something is not right.

Well, there are those propane refrigerators...
Probably based on ammonia-absorbtion. I've seen plans for an ammonia-road salt solar powered ice maker. Of course, it's a pretty closed-loop system.

You are lucky. Everything I eat caused me to do that.

Well, this year, the start was later due to the weather and season not being as warm. Also, most of the varieties that are left are Granny Smith's, Braeburns, Fujis and Pink Ladys. These are later varieties and they are in the later areas as well.

Wing icing and going something like 92 MPH...
A real bad combination if you want to live...

That was my reaction. My kids say the same thing, in their youthful innocence: "Mom, if there's global warming, why is it so COLD outside?"

El Rushbo would like this title. He'd take it a long way on his show.

Good news from my part of the country!! We had a warmer than usual October here in the Blue Ridge mountains. So according to the global warming theory, that must mean global COOLING is on the way, right? Whew, I'm sure glad that global warming thingy didn't last long.
Up is down, down is up, according to the Chicken Little folks. That doesn't make sense, so it must be right. Geez, I hope global cooling doesn't mean I'll have to run the A/C this winter.

We've had several mild winters in the valleys of the NorthWest and are due for a good old cold one. The Californians will go absolutely bonkers if we do; just like they believe the drought we've had for several years are the long-term reality.
Oh! For a return of the eternal drizzle!

We've had about 6" of global warming here in western NY state today.
And there's more on the way. Yikes!
